We’d even had a few omegas flee forced matings and turn up at the Palace, seeking the Sanctuary. Sadie had taken them all in, and provided protection, backed by our packs. It was humbling that the Palace, the place omegas had hid from, was where they now ran for help. Cary had been right. Turning the Palace into a beacon of hope had helped dismantle everything it had previously embodied.

I didn’t know what was going to happen in the future, but for now, what we were doing was working. Not always, but enough of the time for things to balance out.

A crunch of tires had me looking up as River and Ryder came around the bend in the golf cart their parents had been using. I jumped up, passed Lucas to Wolf as he held his arms out, and launched myself at them as soon as they got out.

“Everything okay?” I asked, as they wrapped me up in a twin sandwich.

“Everything is great now,” Ryder said as he breathed in my scent, and his body relaxed into me.

“Everything is better when you’re with us, little bird,” River added.

Yeah. I felt the same.
