Much love,

Jay

He included one of his trademark kisses, this one in lipstick with a dried wet spot beside it, that I already knew was a teardrop. My heart clenched in my chest at the sight of it. I didn’t like the thought of him crying. It made me ache.

I sighed and settled the letter on my stomach, staring at the bunk above me. I wished I could leave right now and be with him. Hold him and assure him that everything he was feeling wasnotcrazy because I felt the same way. And if it was crazy to anyone else, then I would gladly be insane with him.

“You good?” Amree asked, turning his head to look at me.

I nodded. “Jayden was emotional in this letter.”

Amree frowned. “He okay?”

I shrugged. “He will be as soon as he receives my next letter.”

“Why?” Ethan asked, popping his head over the side of his bunk to peer down at me.

“Because I’m telling him I’m going to be home for Christmas.”

I sat up and slid off the bed, heading over to my locker. I grabbed my notebook and pen before settling onto my bed. My letter was going to be short and simple, but I knew that was all my boy was going to need.

Sweet boy,

I got good news this morning. I’ll be home Christmas Eve morning. I’m including my phone number. Please text me so I have your number, and as soon as I have my flight details, I will send them to you.

I’d love for you to meet me at the airport. I want to meet you. Nothing you’re feeling is crazy. I feel the same way. And if it is crazy, sweet boy, then we’ll be crazy together, okay?

I hope to see you in a week.

Love,

Your Nikky

I quickly wrote his and my addresses on the envelope and then sealed the letter inside before taking it down to the mailbox outside the barracks.

I was going home soon, and I would take care of my boy. He wouldn’t ever have another reason to doubt his feelings for me and what was forming between us.

I was going to make sure of it.

CHAPTER3

Jayden

Ihad never been more nervous for anything in my life. I wasn’t this nervous for my high school graduation test. I wasn’t this nervous when I had sex for the first time. Hell, I wasn’t even this nervous when I went on my first date.

But as I stood there waiting on Nikolai’s flight to land, I couldn’t stop fidgeting. I kept twisting my fingers around each other, and I couldn’t stop moving.

“Enough,” Draven growled from his position slouched on a bench. He closed his thighs, the buckles on his knee-high platform boots making a little bit of noise as he did so, and the chains he had on his cargo pants jangled against the metal bench.

He reached out and tugged me onto his lap, wrapping his arms around me and grabbing my hands in his. Cameron remained standing next to us, too nervous to sit down. “We’re all nervous, Jay.” I sighed. I knew they were. Even Draven, who wasn’t one to get nervous, had confessed he wasn’t sure if he could do this. “Just take a deep breath and focus on grounding yourself.”

“Everything is going to be fine,” Cam assured me, a soft smile tilting his lips. His blonde hair was styled perfectly, and his blue eyes were shining with excitement but mixed with the same nerves I was feeling.

People began to emerge from the hall to our left. Yanking my hands from Draven’s, I began to chew on my thumbnails, my heart beating rapidly in my chest. It thunked against my breastbone with every beat, making me feel a little lightheaded.

“Easy,” Draven murmured, grabbing my hands in his again. His palms were sweaty, revealing his own nerves. How was I meant to not be nervous when Draven, who wasn’t bothered by anything, wassweatingwith his own nerves?

A bunch of men in military gear emerged from around the corner, and I swallowed thickly, my Adam’s apple bobbing in my throat as my eyes landed on Nikolai.
