Page 10 of Winter's Daddy

It was the thoughtfulness of the gloves that fueled the fantasies that have plagued me since he dropped me off… Fantasies of Jude being my Daddy. He’s bossy and protective, not to mention he’s the sexiest man I’ve ever seen. I haven’t ever responded to a man like I respond to him. Heck, I’ve only ever gotten hot over the fictional men in the books I read. I honestly thought there was something wrong with me. I see dozens of attractive men every night, yet I feel zero attraction to any of them until Jude. Now it’s like my body is on overdrive.

He watches me walk towards him with what can only be described as hungry eyes, sending a little thrill through me. I’m no stranger to men looking at me lustfully, but this is different. It makes me want things I’ve never wanted before. I should be worried at the intensity of my attraction to him. The more I think about him, the more I want him, and now he’s here watching me like he wants to eat me up. If I’m being honest, I want him to devour me.

“Hey, handsome,” I say, flirting with a customer for the first time ever. Though, Jude isn’t just any random customer. He’s so much more.

“Hello, sweets. How are you?”

“I’m okay. Keeping busy as usual,” I say with a smile.

He looks me up and down like he’s checking me over to make sure I’m okay. His eyes linger on my breasts, and I’m pretty positive he can see my hard nipples through my thin bra and elf costume. I swear the tender peaks harden even more under his gaze. He shifts in his seat before his stormy blue eyes meet mine again. He looks into my eyes like he’s trying to read my thoughts. I can feel a blush forming on my cheeks because if he could read my mind, he would definitely pick up how turned on I am by him and that I want his big hands on my body… his mouth too.

I clear my throat, feeling seen in a way I’ve never been seen before. It both excites me and makes me uncomfortable. “What can I get you to drink?” I finally ask when he doesn’t say anything.

“Tonic water and lime.”

I raise a brow because I’m sure he was drinking whiskey last night, but then I never actually saw him drink it.

“I’ll be back.”

“Looking forward to it, babygirl.”

His low, growly voice sends a shiver down my spine… or maybe it’s that he called me babygirl again. That did nothing but fan the flames of my building fantasies. Daddies call their girlfriends babygirl. Could it be? Or is he just using it as some random term of endearment, like sweets? It’s not the first time he’s called me babygirl, but it doesn’t mean he’s a Daddy.

Ugh, why is everything so damn complicated? If this was a romance book, he would definitely be a Daddy Dom, and I’d be the sweet, innocent heroine who’s been waiting for her hero to sweep her off her feet and show her how good life can be. This isn’t a romance book, though, and life has only proven over and over that stuff like that doesn’t happen to me. It’s a cold dose of reality that I need to not forget. My life isn’t a fairytale, and Jude is just a nice guy with a hero complex helping out a damsel in distress.

Mike puts the last drink on my tray with a slight frown. “You okay, Winter?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah. Just tired, I guess,” I say, pasting a smile on my face.

The look he gives me says that he doesn’t believe me one bit, but he doesn’t question me because he’s got customers to charm. I make quick work of passing out the fresh drinks to my tables. I give Jude his drink first so I’m not tempted to linger. Nothing good will come from me spending more time with him. I can already feel myself getting attached, and that’s not good. Everyone leaves, and it’s best to keep my distance. I could quickly lose my heart to a guy like Jude, and I can’t let that happen. I know I won’t survive it if he leaves, too.

The night goes by quickly. I keep Jude’s glass full without him asking but avoid talking with him. I focus on keeping my customers happy; if my tips say anything, I’m doing an excellent job. Thankfully, no one gets handsy, and aside from a few inappropriate comments, I’m mostly left alone. It’s always a good night when my ass isn’t groped.

When the lights come on, and the pounding beat of the music stops, the customers slowly pour out into the cold night air. It doesn’t take long until Jude is the only one left. He stands from his seat and saunters over to where I’m clearing off tables. Jaxon, one of the security guys, starts moving in our direction, probably to throw Jude out.

“Hey, man, time to leave,” Jaxon says.

“It’s okay, Jaxon. Jude’s a friend.”

He crosses his arms over his chest, looking Jude up and down. It is meant to be an intimidation tactic. Unfortunately for Jaxon, Jude is at least two inches taller and obviously broader. Jaxon is a big guy, but Jude is next-level big. He’s intimidating without even having to try.

“You know the boss doesn’t allow non-employees after hours.”

I roll my eyes. Jaxon is a stickler for following Aaron’s rules. He’s a big kiss-ass and is always the first to tattle on anyone for the slightest infraction. He’s the reason Crystal nearly got fired. He went straight to Aaron to tell him she was wearing flats. It didn’t matter that the club wasn’t even open yet or that she’d worked over ten hours the night before, and her feet were blistered and swollen from the cheap shoes Aaron buys for our uniforms. All that mattered was that she was ‘out of uniform,’ which apparently broke the cardinal rule. It was total bullshit, but I don’t want Jaxon tattling to Aaron that Jude is hanging around after hours. It's okay for him to be in the club while it’s open so long as he’s buying drinks. Money talks for Aaron. Everything is about the bottom line.

Jude pulls his eyes away from the stare-off he’s been having with Jaxon to look at me. His gaze immediately softens, causing the butterflies in my stomach to take flight again. “I’ll be outside when you get done.”

Jaxon looks less than happy about that little pronouncement. He pursued me relentlessly when I first started working here. It took six months for him to finally get the hint that I wasn’t interested in him or anyone else for that matter. If he’d paid attention tonight, he’d have noticed my interest in Jude. Even though I tried to stay away, I couldn’t stop myself from sneaking glances at him as often as possible. I’m drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

“It’ll take an hour or so to finish up…”

“That’s fine, sweets,” he murmurs, tucking a wayward strand of my hair behind my ear.

I feel myself blushing once again. It seems like I can’t stop around him, especially when he touches me. Even that innocent touch has my core clenching and my nipples pebbling. He smirks at me knowingly before pressing a gentle kiss on my forehead. I close my eyes, soaking in the sweetness of the moment, not caring that Jaxon is witnessing our exchange. I’m sure he’ll have something to say about it later.

When I open my eyes, Jude looks at me like he wants to kiss more than my forehead. Me to. I want to throw my arms around his neck, pull his lips down to mine, and kiss him like I’ve read in books. He takes a step back, and I immediately feel the loss. I don’t want him to go.

“I’ll be waiting for you, babygirl.”
