“But we didn’t use a condom,” she replied.
“No,” he said. “I couldn’t wait.”
“Me either,” she replied smiling. She liked the sound of him not being able to hold off. She couldn’t believe how magical being with this man she loved had been. All the years of waiting for him seemed to dissolve and she was ecstatic that finally they were together.
While she couldn’t wait to do this again, she needed some food to keep going.
“I’m going to get out of the tub and see what’s in the little refrigerator,” she told him. “I’m starving.”
He sighed and she stood and found the terry cloth robe and wrapped it around her body. Then she went into the bathroom and cleaned up. As a doctor, she knew that it was better to clean up and pee to keep from getting a bladder infection or a UTI. And she wondered where she was in her cycle.
While she would love to have Noah’s child, she would never try to force him or trap him into marriage. That wouldn’t be right and it was not what she wanted. She wanted him to admit he was crazy in love with her and couldn’t live without her.
But she didn’t think that would happen tonight.
Several minutes later when she came out of the bathroom, she saw that he’d gotten out of the tub and released the cold water. He was wearing the terry cloth robe she’d laid out for him.
“Do they have room service?” she asked.
Right now, she didn’t want to jump into a conversation about what had just happened between them. She wanted to let him think about it before they talked. One thing she knew about Noah was that he had to ponder something for a while before he was ready to talk. If she rushed him, he would react negatively and that wasn’t what she wanted.
It would be best to let him come to her.
“Yes,” he said. “Here’s the menu.”
“Look, they have chicken wings and potato skins,” she said. “I’m hungry, but I’m not starving. We could share.”
Glancing up at her, he nodded. “Let’s order them. Then we can relax and watch a movie.”
Not what she wanted to do, but she would let it go for now.
Thirty minutes later, the food arrived and together they crawled up in the big bed, spreading a towel across their laps and he turned on the television.
The weather channel came on and she watched the forecast.
“Heavy snow and blizzard conditions will exist for the next two days at least. We’re expecting over five feet of snow. More than the plows will be able to keep up with. Everyone is advised to stay home and off the roads.”
She laughed. “Come to Montana, he said. It will be fun.”
Noah turned and gazed at her. His fingers reached out and wiped barbecue sauce from her lips, leaving a trail of heat behind.
“I’m glad you’re here with me.”
Stunned, she stared at him. It was his first admission that he liked what was happening between them. It was the first time after they had sex and warmth filled her. Could her dreams be coming true?
Oh, how she’d waited so long for this moment. Dreamed of them having sex, getting married, and even starting the family she wanted. At this point in her life, it was time for them to make a decision.
Suddenly he was reaching for her. The food was shoved to the side of the big bed and they were shedding the terry cloth robes. He climbed on top of her and she gazed up at him.
Why had they waited so long? And it was so perfect between them. With the television still blaring in the background, she focused on this man who she loved. This man who filled all her dreams.
“Noah,” she cried as his fingers found her center.
CHAPTER5
This time, she wanted this experience with Noah to be slow and savor every emotion, every feeling, and she hoped to make them even closer. She wanted this time with Noah to seal them together in a way that could only lead to them being bound together permanently.
This time, she wanted to know that Noah recognized that their relationship had changed and hopefully she was the woman for him.
