Being with Lucas felt like it was where she belonged. Like she’d come home and that he would protect her.

Her heart pounded against her chest like a stampede of cattle as she realized this could all end too soon if she didn't stop. And she wanted more, so much more.

His fingers trailed lazily down her body until they reached the delicate space between her legs. His touch was light and sizzling at the same time. She tightened her grip on his hand as his fingers teased and tempted her, gently sending waves of pleasure coursing through her veins.

Olivia moaned and writhed beneath him as he continued to stroke her into a wild frenzy of desire until she couldn’t think straight and had to have him inside her right away.

“Lucas! Please!” she exclaimed desperately, staring up at him to beseech him to end her torment.

His lips found hers and his tongue explored her mouth, their tongues doing a dance of desire. She'd never experienced the passion and tenderness he was showing her as they made love, but it thrilled her completely.

Breaking the kiss, he reached into a drawer in the bedstand and pulled out a package of condoms. Silently she thanked him for taking care of it without having to ask. She didn’t need an unwanted pregnancy to add to her troubles.

Moving over her body, he positioned himself between her legs. With a gasp, he thrust inside her with one deep movement. One deep movement of pure pleasure as she cried out with joy. A shiver of desire rippled through her as she gripped his penis deep inside her.

A flood of pleasure rushed through her. Never before had she felt this sensation of passion that filled her.

A gasp escaped her lips as Lucas fit within her. She squeezed him tightly, seeking his total surrender. Why did she trust him so explicitly? Lucas took her with a gentleness that surprised Olivia. Why did it feel like they had known each other forever? Why did it feel like she could fall in love with him so easily? And why did it feel like fate had seen her dilemma and sent her what she needed?

As she gazed into his dark brown eyes, it was as though they had become one person. It was as though they were two strangers who shared a single soul.

Once again, his lips covered hers and his kiss burned with an intensity she'd never encountered, igniting a fire within her that branded her as his. Her body arched and twisted beneath him, accepting his passionate thrusts and experiencing blissful sensations like nothing she'd ever known.

She wanted him to devour her. To consume her until they were nothing more than one. As much as Olivia desired for this moment to last forever, she could feel the climax beginning and knew he was close. She pulled her lips from his and looked into his eyes filled with passion.

"Lucas," she exclaimed. “I’m going to come.”

“Yes,” he said as he shuddered within her, his body tensing.

Trembling, she gasped as sensations moved through her body and she clung to him as the pleasure hurled them into an electrifying high. They moaned in unison as their bodies trembled under the intensity of it all before they slowly descended back to reality.

Exhausted, he collapsed on top of her but eventually shifted away, both of them lying on their sides and facing each other. He closed his eyes and lay there, looking dazed from what had just occurred.

Never before had she felt such intensity in lovemaking. She lay there completely overwhelmed. Never before had she given herself to a man she’d just met and yet it felt so perfect. It felt right. It felt like forever.

Gazing at her, he grinned. “I think we should do this again and soon.”

She smiled dreamily. “Lucas. That was amazing.”

He reached out and stroked her cheek. “You’re amazing.”

“No, I’m just a girl who somehow got so very lucky when everything went wrong yesterday. And a handsome young prince came to my rescue.”

“My pleasure, darling. I’ll be your prince any day of the week,” he said as he gazed at her, his feelings shining from his eyes.

Why did this feel so perfect? So right? And yet she was terrified that she’d just jumped from the frying pan into the fire. But damn, what a fire. An inferno that she loved every minute of. If this was wrong, then what a way to go.

CHAPTER11

Lucas woke before dawn to the sound of ice hitting the windows. Snow was one thing, but sleet and ice would make the roads even more treacherous. Snuggling against Olivia, he loved the way she smelled, the softness of her skin, the way her sapphire eyes darkened with passion, and the sound of her laughter.

Never had he fallen for someone so quickly, and yet he feared that after only two days, she had claimed a portion of his heart.

A sense of protectiveness overcame him and he wanted to shelter her forever. To keep her safe and protect her from vicious parents and men who didn’t respect her. But most of all, he wanted to love her. And that frightened him.

He knew what it was like to lose those you loved. And no, it wasn’t their choice to leave him, but still, it hurt. Viciously. Especially now during his mother’s favorite time of year. One thing he’d learned when something tragic happened, you soon found out who your close friends were and who avoided the grief they saw on your face.

The grief that consumed you and left you unable to move. It had taken months before he realized he had to pick up the pieces and move on. That his family would want him to continue his life and their legacy.
