Page 121 of The Omega's Contract

“Lukas!” I scream until my throat aches.

For a moment, just a single moment, my mind wavers. We might fail here, but I push it aside. No, we won’t. They came for me. They abandoned their plan of vengeance, and they came for me.

So, I will protect them.

I sprint past the man in the black mask and grab hold of Seb’s hand and grip Darion’s shirt, yanking him back towards us. My eyes find Lukas on the platform again, and a wave of grief rises inside me then turns to an ice-cold fury that I’ve never felt before.

“Now, that wasn’t in our plans.” The man reaches for me, but the low growl that comes out of Darion makes him withdraw his hand. The masked man peers at my alpha with interest.

“Surely, you haven’t fallen so deep in with your pretend omega?” He scoffs. “Oh, yes, we know all about the arrangement. The contract.”

My hand closes convulsively about Seb’s hand. How did he know that? Not even Ava knew that.

“She is mine,” Darion growls.

“Well, now, that is not at all true, Darion, but we can discuss rewards for good behaviour.”

Darion and Seb growl and both edge me back behind them.

“Where is Ava?” I ask.

“Ava works for me.” The man’s eyes twinkle in mirth.

I snort a sound of disbelief and look up at Seb.

“I don’t believe it.” I say firmly and press my lips together as I squeeze Seb’s arm.

His eyes are filled with guilt. “I’m so sorry we dragged you into this. I’m sorry we couldn’t just walk away.”

I let go of his hand and shove his chest. It doesn’t move him, but it gets his attention. “I’m not sorry. It’s the right thing to do, and I refuse to give up. So don’t you dare give up!”

“You don't know what they can do to you-” Seb whispers, but I interrupt him.

“Yes, I do. But I’m not going to stop fighting. You are my pack. I love you. I’m not giving you up.” I say firmly, viciously. “You saved me. Now, I’m going to save you. Somehow.”

I turn and wrap my arm around Darion from behind, nuzzling my face into his back. “I love you, Darion. Nothing they say or do will change it.”

He freezes and turns, wrapping his arms around me so tight I almost can’t move.

I lean up to kiss him. He takes my mouth in a brutal kiss that leaves no doubt in my mind how he feels.

“How touching.” The man taunts. I stare at him, suddenly recognising his voice.

“I know you! You’re Judge Nelson Fields!” I accuse. “What is wrong with you?” My eyes widen as the realisation that this man, this judge, has been kidnapping people off the street, drugging them, and selling them. I no sooner make that connection than realise he’s the monster that hurt my guys. If I could kill him with looks alone, he’d be dead a million times over. “You’re a judge!” I say again, outraged.

He stares at me. “You’re never going to be able to go free now, omega.”

I roll my eyes, the fear I had is well and truly gone. “You weren’t letting me go anyway.”

The cold hostility wafting off him abruptly changes as he laughs.

“What?” I snap.

“You still think you can get away? It’s hilarious.”

Another wave of this drug-induced heat hits me, and my knees weaken. Slick slides between my thighs, and a strange keening fills the room before I realise it’s me. I clamp my teeth and mute the sound, but it’s too late.

All around me, alphas are mobilizing, shifting towards me. My vision fades in and out. But I tense my body, preparing to act. I’m not going down without a fight.
