Darion is faring no better. He’s quick and vicious, and that’s all that’s keeping him on his feet.

Lukas touches my cheek, and I look down at him. His expression is one of extreme sorrow.

“Run.” He mouths. I can barely hear anything over the noise.

“No.”

“Please. Run.”

I shake my head. “I’m not leaving you.”

“It’s our fault. You don’t deserve this.”

“Yes, I do. I deserve a pack that loves me. I deserve to be with them and be happy. I’m going to fight for myself, Lukas. And I want you. I’m not leaving.” I’m angry and sad, and I can’t stop crying.

He smiles, but it’s weak. I lean into him, holding him tight as he sags. I carefully lower us to the floor, trying not to let him drop.

His comm crackles, and I startle. I look at him, but he’s slipped unconscious. I pull it out of his ear and put it in mine.

“This is Ava searching for Alpha One. You have incoming in five. Four. Three.”

Oh, my…I jerk my head up, finding my alphas.

“DARION, SEBASTIAN, GET DOWN.”

They don’t hesitate; they drop. The door explodes. It shatters into pieces of wood that spreads further than I can imagine, and when I look up, there are dozens of black-vested police officers moving in with dart guns trained on the alphas.

They fire, over and over. And in minutes, the room is still but for my three alphas and the black-vested police. I’m almost stunned by how quickly they neutralize the threat.

I blink as Ava, Oma, and Scarlet rush into the room, searching until they find us. Oma helps roll Lukas out of my arms and checks him, clucking her tongue at the injuries on him.

“He needs to go to the hospital. I suspect a break and a concussion, but he’s got a hard head. He should be fine.”

I sob, and she reaches for me, inhaling before checking my cheek.

“Hospital for you. We’ll run a drug test and see what they put in you, get you back to normal. Scarlet, hon, just keep back a bit, okay?”

Scarlet peers at me, her face tight. “I’ll come see you in a few days.”

“How did you find us?” I sob out, my teeth are chattering. Seb is standing over me, refusing to speak to the people talking to him. Darion circles around us, growling at anyone who comes close.

Ava looks down at her hands and glances back at a man who removes his mask, revealing Sven. His stern face makes me feel safe and like it’s really over. He gives Ava a sharp nod.

“Actually, we had some help,” Ava says gently.

She twists around, and I find my sister standing by the door, tears streaming down her face.

“I’m so sorry, Missy. So sorry.”

Shit. I know they’d said it before they knocked me out, but I hadn’t thought about it. I hadn’t let myself believe it was real. I think even though my body is cramping, I can feel every moment of my heart breaking as the older sister I idolized becomes something else in my mind.

“It would appear that you have people who love you very much,” Oma says quietly in my ear, but it’s a very somber sentence.

That makes me drop my head down onto my knees, sobbing.

Darion drops to a crouch beside me, and I reach blindly for him. Seb envelopes us both, stroking my hair.

We’re okay. We made it.
