“You’ll be ours. It’s a done deal.” His tone is like gravel, cold and hard. “One way or another, omega, you’ll belong to Pack Samuels, and I’m going to personally make you regret being a snotty princess who thinks she’s too good for us.”

I shiver, staring at the dark promise in his eyes.

“You could disappear tomorrow. Just. Like. That.” He murmurs, his lips graze my skin. “Trust me, you won’t want that to happen to you. It would be easier this way. Just agree to come with us, be with us, don’t make this so hard.”

My eyes are so wide they hurt, my mouth parts so I can suck in more air but manage to drown in his overpowering scent. My head is spinning from the threat, from what he’s suggesting.

I whimper and that sound tears me back to reality. I slam my knee up into his junk, and the moment his hands release me, I run. The last thing I need to do is have him bark me into submission. He’s done it before.

I shudder and keep running. When I get back to the house, I stop on the other side of the fence and wipe my face, trying to steady my shaking hands. I take a few deep breaths and then squeeze through, feeling better as soon as I’m in the property line. I push into the house, unable to stop my skin from crawling and feeling like someone’s eyes are on me.

I walk straight to the bathroom and sit on the edge of the bath, biting my knuckles to stop the sobs that try to escape. I’m gambling a lot on Darion, Seb, and Lukas, and the stress of the choices I’m making, the stakes, are threatening to drown me.

I clean my face, scrubbing Tray's sick scent off me, change into the t-shirt and shorts I sleep in, and slip out of the room. I go straight to my mound of blankets and lay down.

After a few minutes, Elise stands up, drags her blankets next to mine, and lays down. Muse drags hers over and lays behind me. Trin sits up. The moonlight hits her face from a gap in the window. I’m surprised to see her face streaked with tears.

“We’re sorry,” Elise says and touches my face.

“It’s okay.” I mutter.

“It’s not.” Trin says. “We…need you, and we see that you’re doing the best you can.”

I sit up so I’m leaning on my elbow. “Protecting you guys is my biggest priority.”

“I’m scared you’re going to go away,” Elise says with a guilty glance at Trin.

My heart seizes. I remember Tray’s words to me tonight. “That’s not going to happen. I promise I won’t leave you. Even if things get hard, I will always find my way back to seeing you.”

“Promise?” Muse whispers from behind.

I lift my arm, and Muse half lies on top of me and buries her face in my neck. I’m careful to angle my face away from her so I don’t scent mark her. Muse notices and makes an unhappy sound, but I ignore her. The last thing I want is people thinking she’s an omega or Elise.

“Promise. You guys are my pack, too. Those alphas, they are good alphas, and they, Darion, Lukas, and Sebastian, are good people. They’re going to help me take care of all of us. I know these things. I got a good people detector.”

Muse giggles into my neck. “That doesn’t exist.”

“It sure does. And when those alphas come close, they get a golden glow.”

“Like knights on white horses?” Muse asks.

“Like that, but they drive cars because I don’t like horses.” I say, while trying to hold back a smile.

“The big one is scary.”

“Seb? Seb? He’s a big kitten.” I scoff dramatically.

Muse giggles.

“That man isn’t a kitten. He’s a bear.” Trin says with a shake of her head.

“He’s mine.” I say calmly and try to hide how tense those words just made me. Apparently, my sister can reach down and wake my omega without even trying.

Trin looks away. “If they hurt you, run.”

I glance at Trin with a look, sister to sister, woman to woman. “I will.”

“Or stab them.” Muse giggles.
