“Was that hard?” She asks, but I’m not sure if she can hear the coldness in her own voice or not. I can hear it. It’s saying I’ve done the wrong thing, or maybe that’s my head. Either way, I wince.

“Is she doing better?” I ask obediently.

Missy scowls. “I don’t know. My family hasn’t contacted me. I haven’t been allowed out of my gilded cage. Which has been a learning experience.”

“Why?” Seb asks.

“Because I’ve always been free to come and go. Our parents never really cared where I was. Where any of us were. Trin and I raised ourselves and then helped to raise the little ones until she vanished. I’ve never spent two weeks locked anywhere.” Missy spits with disgust.

“How old were you when she vanished?” I ask.

“I was fifteen. She was almost seventeen.”

“I don’t remember you,” I say into the silence. “Did you see it happen?”

She turns those green eyes on me again. “I was a late bloomer. No one noticed me with Trin around. She was incredibly captivating.” She pauses, swallowing hard. “No, I was somewhere else when it happened.”

She looks away quickly, and I wonder if she’s hiding anything. “I think that although Trin was captivating when she was younger, she doesn’t hold a candle to you.”

Missy stares at me. Her lips part, but she can’t seem to think of something to say.

Lukas stands up, pulling her with him, and leads her into the kitchen. I monitor them, but it’s disconcerting to see Lukas so easy with her. Seb and I really fucked up with this chance to spend time getting to know her.

“He may need reminding that we aren’t keeping her.” I say to Seb and recoil when he hits me with a withering glare. “What?”

“Darion, you are so smart, your ability to navigate people's motivations and how to manipulate them is unparallel, but when it comes to feelings and emotions of those close to you, you’re an idiot, not all the time, but enough that you make me want to hit you.”

I blink at him but sit back when Lukas and Missy come back laughing.

“So, you two are…” I can’t leave it alone. I know I should. I know I’m making everyone uncomfortable, but if she thinks Lukas is more, I have to stop it.

“Friends. We decided to be friends.” Lukas barks out and flashes me a warning look.

“How does that work, exactly?” Why won’t my mouth stop?

Missy laughs. “We exchanged some top secret information, spat into our hands, and swore on the north star to be BFFs forever.”

I stare at her, trying to kill the anger rising in me.

“What information?” I whirl on Lukas. “What information did you tell her?”

“Damn it, Darion!” Lukas shouts. He springs over Seb and tackles me. I don’t try very hard to fend off the punches. But I only let him get three good ones before I roll and pin him on the couch.

“Enough.”

“You're such a prick.” Lukas snarls.

“Bite me.” I snap down at him.

His eyes flash, and I feel my cock harden in my jeans. The room fades, and all that exists is him and me. He turns his head and sinks his teeth into my wrist.

I close my eyes and moan, needing the pain. I need it. I sink down onto him as he removes his teeth and gasp as he grabs my hair and pulls my face down to his.

A soft whisper pulls me back, and I swear softly as I raise my head. The fruity scent hits me like a punch to the gut a moment later.

Missy stands up, but Seb reaches for her, holding her wrist. “Don’t run. Sit with me. It’s fine.”

She’s shivering, but her cheeks are flushed, her pupils are huge. I want to stand up and devour her. I want her on her knees, Lukas pounding into her, Seb fucking her mouth. The image makes me suck in a sharp breath.
