“Sebastian, I love you, too.” I say clearly and with more strength.

He’s not breathing. I shift my weight, and he pounces, pushing me back onto the couch and kissing me.

“You are a gift. A miracle I have no right to hope for.”

Why does he sound like he’s going to cry? I didn’t mean to make him sad. I struggle, kissing him back but working my way free until I put some space between us.

“I didn’t want to make you sad.”

“Not sad, so happy, so humbled, so grateful.” Seb says evenly. “I’ll be yours forever. I am yours. Missy, I love you.”

“Are you quite done?” Darion barks from the doorway. His face says it all, he’s furious with us.

My heart drops, and I reluctantly pull away from Seb.

Missy

Darion stalks into the office followed by one of the most compelling women I’ve ever seen. Her hair is jet black and coiled to smooth perfection. Her eyes are gray and cool, her clothes are expensive.

But it’s her aura. It takes me a minute to realise, but then the knowledge crashes through me, startling me into edging towards Sebastian. This woman is an Alpha. Powerful, strong. My omega self wants to whimper and crawl into the safety of Sebastian’s arms.

Or Darion’s.

She looks around the office and goes to pull out a chair from Lukas’ desk and sits on it across from Sebastian and I.

“Hello.”

“Hi.”

“My name is Scarlet Warring, and I’m helping your Pack with the Gala.”

I perk my head up and study her intently. Holy hell, I know this woman! This woman owns several businesses. She’s got the reputation of having the Midas touch, turning the businesses she buys around and selling them for a huge profit. She is mega rich, her name is almost household knowledge, her reputation untarnished. Every woman has dreamed of being a woman like Scarlet. I certainly have, but I never in my wildest dreams thought I’d be sitting in a room talking with her.

“Missy Clark.” I say with more confidence.

“I hear you might be able to help me out.”

I peer at Darion, who glares at us both with his arms folded. “Me?”

“Yes, you.” Scarlet smiles, and I find myself relaxing.

“How exactly am I going to help you?”

“We want you to work with Scarlet, going over the venue, the route. You’ll be working with her directly.”

I look between her and Darion. “With all due respect…why?” I ask Darion.

He grunts. “Because Scarlet and I clash. Because Lukas rubs her the wrong way. So, the alternative is Sebastian, who has refused unless you work together with him to get what we need in a way that I can cope with so Scarlet and I don’t try to kill each other.”

I glance at the big guy next to me. “We will?”

“Sure.”

“If you can keep your hands off each other.” Darion mutters.

Lukas walks in and groans when he sees Scarlet. “Fabulous. What a way to end a day.”
