I sniffle, and Darion immediately pulls back and returns with a tissue he gently wipes my face with.

“Darion,” I whisper and thread my fingers through his hair, yanking his mouth to mine.

He pulls away. “The Gala. We think the building we escaped from is the place where the Gala is being held.”

I gasp. “This is a trap, isn’t it?”

“Yes. It’s a trap that is years in the making.” Darion exhales. “Everything is on track. So now you know, what do you want to do?”

I blink at him. “Me?”

“Yes, you. Our omega.”

I frown. “Our?”

Darion glances at the others. “Fuck the contract, Missy. We want you to stay with us forever.”

My heart leaps, jumps, tries to burst out of my chest. “Yes!”

He smiles, and tension leaves his body. I didn’t even know he was that tense.

“So, what do you want to do?”

“I want to help you. I want this guy to be punished and lose everything he cares about.” How is this even a question?

Darion exhales, and something settles in him.

“Then let’s order some food, and we can explain the entire plan and go over all the details of the plan over a nice meal.”

I find my way to the rooftop, needing time and space to think. Everything is happening so quickly, and there is so much to process.

I liked them before, but now I understand how tight they are. Closer than brothers, closer than lovers, they’ve been all each other has had for so long. Their scars are there for me to see.

I’m honoured. I’m terrified. What if I don’t deserve it? What if I’m not enough?

I grip the railing and lean against it, looking out into the shadowy night. The city looks beautiful, but I can’t see the beauty tonight.

There is something they aren’t telling me. I can feel it deep inside, something that changed their decision not to include me. But I’m not going to push, not yet.

The door opens, and I know before I turn from the scent alone that it’s Lukas. In many ways, he's the most vulnerable of the three of them.

He leans on the rails beside me. “Hi.”

I lean into him, letting our shoulders touch. “Hi.”

“So that was a lot.”

“Yeah, little bit.”

“And you’re still here.”

There is something in his voice that alarms me. I turn to him. “Where else would I be?”

“Uh, two states away and still running?”

He’s not looking at me, he’s still looking out at the city, but I don’t think he’s seeing it.

“Lukas?” When he still doesn’t look at me, I touch my fingertips to his chin. “Look at me.”
