Nova's eyes search mine, and I mouth, “I love you.” Letting her know we'll always be with her, no matter what.
“Pup,” Cass breathes. “Fight, baby,” he tells her.
Jordy takes a deep breath.
“You'll always be ours, baby girl. You belong to The Sinners.”
“Always,” she whispers.
Miller chuckles darkly, turning to glare at us just as the door explodes open and the room is cast in a shadowy darkness.
Everything happens so fast, I don't have time to react.
I catch sight of Carter and Leonard running through another door as a light shines toward us.
Suddenly, gunfire erupts and Nova screams.
“Nova,” I scream. Struggling to free my arms, I grunt as I give it everything to get to her.
Suddenly the ropes are loosened, and I can free myself.
Jumping from my seat, I race toward Nova. I grab her hand, yanking her toward my chest, noticing she is also free of her ropes. Another shot rings out and I curl myself around Nova protecting her just as Miller falls down beside us. His eyes are glazed over staring blankly ahead. Blood pools around him. Nova covers her mouth forcing down her sobs as she realizes he's gone, and I look back at where Cass and Jordy are to find they're not there. Fuck.
Grabbing Nova but the arm, I don't wait. I race from the room, pulling her behind me as I find a way to get us out.
“King, we can't leave them,” she cries.
“We have to go,” I yell.
Nova struggles to keep up with me, her legs giving out collapsing under her.
Turing, I bend down and wrap my arms under her legs, lifting her to my chest so I can carry her.
Even if I don't make it, she has to. It doesn't end with her, it ends with us.
Jordy and I run,trying to find an exit.
“We fucking left them,” he growls, placing his hands on top of his head, forcing air into his lungs as I search for a door.
“King had her, there was no way we'd make it through,” I tell him.
A door bursts open and the light from outside blinds us. Shielding our eyes, a figure comes to a standstill in the doorway. Unease rolls through my body until I peek from under my hand, recognizing the man.
“Glad to see you’re okay, son.” Opening my eyes completely, Jacob holds out his hand and helps Jordy and I out before he looks us over.
“You hurt?” he asks. I shake my head.
He walks us around a corner and my heart almost sinks the moment I see Bass.
“Cass. Jordy.” He calls as he runs toward us. Bass crashes into me as his arms wrap around me. Brushing my hand through his hair, I’m so fucking happy to see him, I hug my brother.
Jordy wraps his arms around us from behind.
“I thought you were gone,” Bass murmurs softly.
“Fuck.” Jordy swallows.
Following his line of sight, I see at least fifteen men with machine guns staring at us.
