Whiler

The day was finally here—the day I got to make Cannon my wife.

I hadn’t been able to sleep a wink last night, but I did get a chance to finally relax when Cannon curled up in my arms on the porch swing. Jessie had found us there this morning, and she’d silently gone back inside, made me a cup of coffee, and let us be.

I watched the sun slowly rise in the sky, and when the sun finally began to top the trees, I gently shook my bride awake. It was time for her to begin getting ready for our big day. Already, two of Alejandro’s SUVs were making their way up our driveway, and when they came to a stop, eight men piled out, fully armed and ready to protect the women inside.

I’d been too on edge lately, and Cannon still spiraled without the extra protection on her. This would put us both at ease, and Alejandro was more than willing to lend his men for service.

Cannon groaned and burrowed her face in the crook of my neck. “Five more minutes,” she mumbled.

I chuckled and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “I wish, baby, but you’ve got to start getting ready, and I need to head to the clubhouse.”

She sighed and yawned before lifting her head, sniffing at the air. “Do I smell coffee?” she croaked.

I handed her my half-drank mug, and she lifted it to her lips, downing the liquid in two gulps. Then, she stood to her feet and stretched. I groaned at the sight. Fuck, my woman was goddamn beautiful, and I couldn’t wait to see her curves encased in her wedding dress.

She would be fucking stunning. Breathtaking.

All mine.

I stood to my feet, and my back popped, making me wince. Fuck, I was getting too old to be sitting that damn long, especially on a wooden swing. Cushions would need to be put on that thing fucking ASAP.

“I’ll see you later?” Cannon asked me, tilting her head back to look up at me. Her pretty blue eyes sparkled in the early morning light. It was a beautiful image I would forever remember.

I leaned down and cupped her face in my hands before pressing my lips to hers. She sighed, her lips parting. Groaning, I stepped closer, pressing her soft curves to my harder body, and deepened the kiss, dipping my tongue into her warm, wet mouth.

“Ahem!” Adelaide loudly cleared her throat. I grunted and parted our lips, glaring at Adelaide over Cannon’s head. Cannon merely quietly laughed. “You can suck her face off some other time. She needs to eat breakfast so we can get her ready.”

I rolled my eyes before looking down at Cannon. “I’ll see you in a bit, baby.” I kissed her again just to annoy Adelaide, who huffed. I grinned against Cannon’s sweet, addictive mouth. “I’ll be the one waiting for you at the altar.”

“I’ll be the one in all black,” she teased.

I snickered, but knowing her, she wasn’t kidding.

White wasn’t really our thing anyway.

“Nervous?”Joey asked me. The guests were all seated, and all of the groomsmen had already made their way down the aisle with the bridesmaids. The bridesmaids were wearing deep-purple dresses that werealmostblack, but not quite. The groomsmen were in charcoal gray suits, and Joey was already pulling at his collar. None of us were fucking comfortable at the moment in these damn monkey suits.

“No,” I told him honestly. “She’s it for me. I’m just ready for this to be over so I can get out of this damn outfit.”

“Shut up, you two,” Adelaide hissed, making me snicker. Joey just shot her a wink, and Elaina quietly laughed to herself. Adelaide and Joey had been bickering ever since Adelaide showed up to make sure everything was ready for the wedding. As soon as she found out we were having a traditional wedding to make up for the shit marriage Cannon had been in the first time, Adelaide had named herself the wedding planner and gone all fucking in. And Joey did everything he could to aggravate the shit out of her, which he definitely accomplished.

River roughly cleared his throat, dragging my attention to him. He jerked his head in the direction of the clubhouse doors. The wedding march music began to play just as the doors fully opened to reveal Cannon on Alejandro’s arm.

When he had come to us a couple of months ago and offered to walk her down the aisle, it’d surprised both of us. But I knew what message he was sending everyone.

She was now under his protection. Alejandro was protective of all the women and children, a drastic change from the man he was before Elaina became his property after a three-million-dollar cash exchange years ago. He’d done a complete one-eighty. And protecting the women and children of the club had become a mission for him—one that was above all else.

My breath caught in my throat at the sight of my bride. Her dress was all black, shimmery, and hugged her body, flaring out around her knees. I could hear everyone shuffling in their seats to look at her, but I couldn’t rip my eyes off her. She was… Words would never describe how fucking beautiful she was.

Her makeup was kept to a minimum, but her lips were painted to match her dress. Her red hair had been curled and laid loose over her creamy, bare shoulders. The black ensemble made her blue eyes pop, and they trapped me in their wicked stare.
