Sam looked back at him, her eyes big and her brows a little furrowed.

“Really? Then I probably won't have much to add. But, I’m happy to meet you both.”

Harry laughed and winked at his son. Mary said, “Sam, dear, what can I get you to drink?” She glanced at Gray. “I assume you’ll have a beer?”

“Yes, I’ll get it.” He winked at Sam and smiled. “Sam likes wine, Mom, what do you have here?”

She started to protest, but Mary shushed her off with a wave and a tsk. “I’ve stocked up a bit. Gray told us you like the Von Stiehl Winery. I have the Oktoberfest, Cranberry, or a Late Harvest Riesling. What's your pleasure?”

Sam’s face flushed. “That’s very nice of you, but really, you didn't need to do that. Thank you.” She giggled, “Will you be joining me?”

Mary laughed and said, “Well, why not!”

She turned and looked at the bottles, not sure which one, causing her to giggle again.

“The Oktoberfest is very good, one of my favorites. Light and crisp. The Cranberry tastes just like cranberry sauce with a little punch, and the Riesling is a sweeter wine and a little fruity, but not too.”

Mary thought just a moment and grabbed the Cranberry wine.

“Perfect.” Sam nodded.

Mary giggled as Harry lifted an eyebrow in question.

Gray leaned down and whispered, “My mom likes you. She doesn't drink with just anyone.”

Then he kissed her on the cheek, and her face flushed a nice bright red to match the wine. Perfect!

Mary struggled with the bottle and Gray walked around the counter and offered to help. She happily let him. He opened the bottle and poured them each a glass. He handed Mary her glass and walked around the counter to hand Sam hers, but before he handed it to her, he held it back with a snarky grin on his face.

“Pay for it!”

She knew he was teasing her, but she wasn't quite sure what he meant. Then she heard Mary giggle and look at Harry. Okay, so he wanted to play, she grabbed his face in her hands and stood up on her toes to reach him. She kissed him, licked his lips, then kissed him again full on the lips. When she stepped back, she had a big grin on her face.

He raised his brows. “Well played.”

From the doorway, they heard, “You’re letting them make out in the kitchen?” They turned and Sam recognized the man from the pictures at Gray's house—his brother, Jamie. He laughed as Gray shook his brother’s hand and gave him a hearty shoulder slap.

“Jamie, I would like you to meet Sam. Sam, this is my brother, Jamie.”

Jamie walked over to Sam, and as soon as he was standing in front of her, he said, “My turn!”

Her mouth dropped open in surprise, her face turned bright red, and she looked over at Gray, who very quickly walked up behind Jamie and shoved him away.

“Find your own girl, Jamie.”

Laughing, he shrugged his shoulders just as Gray had done moments before.

“Can't blame a guy for trying! Nice to meet you, Sam.”

“Nice to meet you, too, Jamie,” Sam said, her face bright red.

Jamie helped himself to a beer from the fridge and looked over at his mom.

“You’re having wine?”

Jamie looked at his dad, and Harry raised his eyebrows and nodded toward Sam. She shrugged.

“I like this wine, too, Sam. You’re right; itdoestaste like cranberry sauce.”
