“Sam, I couldn’t care less. As far as I am concerned, you and I can go to the courthouse right this minute and get married. I would be thrilled as long as you’re my wife; that’s all that matters to me.” She hugged and held him for a few minutes. He smelled good, he felt good, and she fit him perfectly. They were two halves of a whole.

“Okay, let’s be blunt. Are you sure you don’t want a prenup? It’s for your own good.”

“No, Sam, I don't want that! I don't want to enter a marriage with the steps to get out of it written on a piece of paper. No.”

She sighed. “They aren't the steps to get out of the marriage; they simply outline our respective assets and keeping them separate in case it doesn't work out. It keeps things from being messy if things go wrong.”

Gray groaned and raked his hands through his hair. “If you think that I’ll just let you out of our marriage, you need to know it’ll be messy—messy as hell! I’m not letting you go without one hell of a fight. Do you understand me?”

His voice rose, and he spoke quickly, the worry marring his face. He held onto her shoulders again, keeping her in place. She looked into his eyes and smiled, reaching up to cup his handsome face in her hands. Softly she brushed his cheek with her thumbs.

“I’m not looking to get out of our marriage, messy or not. I wouldn't have said yes if I had any doubt at all. But, you have this company and your children to worry about, I just thought you would want to make sure they were taken care of. I love you, Gray… so much it hurts. I would be devastated if you wanted to leave our marriage. I just know that it can be a hard subject to bring up and wanted you to know that if you wanted a prenup, I understand.”

She stood on her toes to kiss his perfect mouth. His arms circled her waist and he pulled her close. She tightened her arms around his neck and held onto him with all her strength.

“Two weeks, huh? Yikes.”

“You didn't answer my question, Sam. Do you want a big wedding?”

She nestled her face into his neck. “All I want is for the kids and your parents and siblings and my brother and his family to be there. I’d like some friends to come if they can make it, but the important thing to me is at the end of the day you’ll be my husband!”

“I’m not waiting until the end of the day to be your husband. Two weeks from now I’ll be fit to be tied that we aren't married already. It should happen in the morning—early morning.”

She laughed and shook her head. “Early morning? You know I'm not a morning person. You’re going to have to compromise on that one, Mr. Kinkaide.”

He called his mom. “Mom, we’re getting married in two weeks, and we need your help. We’ll discuss some basics and give you a call at the end of the day. Then we’ll need to call all the kids and fill them in.”

“Why don’t you come here for supper tonight? I’ll call everyone together, and we can assign duties.”

“That sounds like a great idea, Mom. Sam and I will call the kids and invite them over and tell them we’re planning a wedding.”

Once he hung up, they each grabbed their phones and started calling kids. After some hesitation and questions on why so soon, they each got their kids to agree to come to Mary and Harry's for dinner to discuss wedding plans.

Gray sighed. “I think it would be easier to elope and come back and tell them we’re married and just plan a party.”

She smiled at him and shook her head. “You’re the one who wants a quickie wedding. Suck it up, buttercup!”

He wrinkled his face. “I didn't say I wanted a 'quickie' wedding. I said I didn’t want to wait very long.”

She kissed him and patted his awesome ass a couple of times. “Get a move on, Mr. Kinkaide. We have work to do.”

Gray grabbed Sam's hand as they headed down the steps from the fourth floor. He knew he could make her happy, but he worried like hell he couldn't keep her safe.

When they arrived home, Tank told Gray and Sam to stay in the car with the doors locked until he gave them the all clear. They were in the garage with the door closed, but he didn’t want them in the house if someone was there. His guys told him they’d installed a top-of-the-line security system with all the bells and whistles. They cleared the house before they left and turned the system on and had been monitoring it from the office. They would continue to do so 24/7. Tank just wanted to be sure it was still clear, and the security equipment was working the way it was supposed to.

He entered the house and the alarms starting ringing and his phone rang immediately.

After a few moments, Tank came out to the car and opened the door for Sam.

“We have the all clear, and in case you didn't hear, the alarms work.”

Gray nodded. “I thought Sam was going to go through the roof.”

She just nodded. They went inside and walked around as Tank showed them the alarm system and showed them on his laptop how to check systems and run through everything. It was impressive, to say the least—night vision cameras, still cams that were motion activated, infrared detection wires, and of course, the alarms. But, at any time, either of them could log onto their respective computers and check what was going on at the house and David's company would be monitoring all the time. They were open for business 24/7.

Tank informed him and Sam that he would be staying with them until it was safe enough for them to return to their normal lives. His work partner, Shane, would be relieving him. They would meet with Shane later in the evening. Once all was good, Tank set up in Gray’s office to install the security software on Gray’s computer.
