Rajiv took the offered chair.

Mihir poured a vodka shot into two glasses and pushed one at Rajiv. Only after did he drink it himself, Rajiv gulped his shot down. The vodka was smooth and rich.

“Nice, no?” Mihir said, pouring another round. Once again, he downed the shot, and Rajiv followed suit. The third round was filled. Rajiv downed it at the same time as the man in front of him. These fucking Russians and their love for vodka neat.

When Mihir went to pour a fourth shot, Rajiv put a hand on his glass. “Enough drinking. Let’s get to the point, Oshnov. Where are the girls?”

“They’re safe, don’t worry,” Mihir said, his accent heavy and thick. “The wild one, Sheena Sehgal, not only did she encourage the other two to hurt my men, they also damaged my property.”

Fuck. Sheena was so bloody brave. So fearless. He was proud of her for standing her ground. A smile must have appeared on his face because Mihir’s gaze narrowed on him.

“This other woman… Who is she to you?” Mihir asked.

“She’smine.” The words spilled out of his mouth easily and swiftly.

Mihir’s gaze widened. He looked at Vedant.

Vedant lifted a brow. “We didn’t know Rajiv Mehra had a girlfriend.”

“It’s not public, yet,” Rajiv said.

“And here we thought we’d have a chance to negotiate with Kabier Sehgal,” Armaan said.

This was exactly what he’d assumed they’d do. And that’s why he’d decided to claim Sheena in front of these men. There was no way on earth he was leaving her with them till her brother arrived. Even the thought of her alone with them made his stomach knot.

“The only person negotiating her release will beme,” Rajiv announced. “Like I said, she’smine.”

“Interesting,” Mihir drawled, his R’s more pronounced, no doubt, because of his long stay in Russia.

“Very,” Armaan agreed. “When there is a lady love involved, the bargaining terms ought to be different, right?”

He spoke in rapid Russian to his brothers. The other two men nodded, all of them smiling when they looked at him as if they had just chanced upon a bigger prize.

“Let’s talk about our terms,” Mihir began.

“First, bring the girls to me,” Rajiv demanded.

“Alright, I will do you one better, da,” Mihir said. “I will release your sister.”

From his left, Armaan growled. Mihir said something in swift Russian to him. Vedant joined the fray, and soon, the three of them were… Arguing? At least, that was what it seemed like to him.

“It’s rude to speak in a foreign language in front of your guests,” Rajiv finally said, quite done with this waste of time. He simply wanted to get the girls out and leave.

His words silenced the men.

“Our apologies,” Mihir tipped his head to Armaan, “But my brother has taken a liking to your sister. He doesn’t want me to release her.”

Fury stormed through Rajiv. The more he stared at Armaan, the more he wanted to rip off the man’s head. The other man watched him, his eyes dancing with mischief and mayhem. He was waiting to see what Rajiv would do. For sure, he expected him to get violent. But violence was not the answer here. Rajiv slowly moved his gaze away from Armaan to Mihir.

“Do you want a war, Oshnov?” Rajiv asked. “Because that’s what will happen if anyone as much as touches a hair on either of those girls’ heads. Just because I’ve come alone doesn’t mean I don’t have backup waiting at the shore for me.”

“Let’s all calm down, da?” Mihir said. He pressed a number on the landline and gave some instructions.

A few seconds later, the door opened, and Navya walked inside. Rajiv stood. Relief swamped her face as she rushed to him. He held her arms and studied her from head to toe.

“Are you okay?” He asked. “Did anyone hurt you?”

She shook her head. “I’m fine.”
