“Rajiv…” she whispered again, some moments later.

But there was no response. She looked up and he was fast asleep. Her chest filled with love for him. Happiness flooded her. God. He was perfect in every way. Warm and kind and protective. He was just right for her.

Sighing, she shut her eyes. Tomorrow, she’d tell him she was in love with him. He needed to know, and she refused to hide it from him.

Rajiv woke up to the smell of something burning and a loud curse. Actually, a string of curses. He smiled and climbed out of bed. He checked the time; it was noon. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d ended up sleeping in so late. But last night had been a roller coaster of emotions, and he definitely had been mentally and physically exhausted.

Freshening up quickly, he donned his trousers and went outside, looking for her. Sheena was slumped against the breakfast bar in the center of the kitchen, staring at a pan of blackened goop and two charred toasts on the plate in front of her.

He ran his eyes over her. Dressed only in a red satin camisole and matching sleep shorts, her hair tied messily on the top of her head, she looked divine. His mouth watered. Forget breakfast, he wanted to eat her. Maybe he’d do just that.

“Bloody fucking hell!” Her loud curse cut into his erotic daydream.

“I still don’t like those curse words coming out of your pretty mouth.”

She spun around. Her eyes fell on him, taking him in. Her lips parted, and her eyes warmed as her appreciative gaze ran over his naked torso.

“I like that you like what you see, Princess.” He stalked forward, grabbing her waist and hauling her to him.

She fell against his chest. “I think you know by now that I do like looking at you.”

He smiled. “Are you trying to cook me breakfast?”

Her eyes jumped to his, and she made a face. “Trying and failing.”

“Cooking not your forte?”

“Not at all.”

He looked around her kitchen. “How have you been eating since you moved to Dubai?”

“Out mostly, or I order in.”

He grimaced. “That is so unhealthy, Sheena.”

“You’re right. However, food was the one thing I didn’t factor in when I moved here. I assumed I’d get a cook. Somehow, I’ve never gotten around to it. Anyway, shall I get you some coffee before we go out to eat?”

He tipped his head at the charred frying pan. “Um, no. I don’t want to die of food poisoning.”

She punched his shoulder. “Are you mad? I have a perfectly fine coffee machine.”

“I’m sure you do, but I’m taking you home. It’s almost lunchtime, and you’ll enjoy a home-cooked meal. Besides, my sisters owe you an apology for last night, and I need to give them a piece of my mind.”

Thinking about Navya and her being held hostage, even for a short time, made his blood boil.

She reached up and wiped the frown from his forehead with her fingers. “Hey, we are safe, and that’s what matters. Don’t be too hard on them. I’m sure they feel guilty enough already.”

“I can’t believe you’d take their side after what you went through.”

“I chose to go with them, Rajiv. That is on me, not them.”

He studied her. “Why did you do that? You didn’t have to.”

“Because I knew it in my bones that they were doing something reckless and unsafe, and I just…I just wanted to protect them. I’d allowed one girl to walk into danger by herself, and I regret it to this day.” She looked at the floor. “I wasn’t allowing two other girls to do the same. They are my friends, and I wanted to be there for them, even if it was dangerous.”

He lifted her jaw up. “Brave. You are so bloody brave. You floor me with your courage every single time.”
