"He called him a traitor and demanded to know what Andy told him. The kid kept telling him he didn't know anything, but that wasn't good enough. Elroy called out to Billy for help, but there was no response. We were about to intervene when he abruptly stopped and dragged the kid inside the encampment." Jason reported.

"There might be a leadership challenge taking place," Silas advised.

"Billy's a marginal leader at best, but he's immensely superior to Ford," Jason commented.

“Agreed, so keep an eye on things and report back hourly.”

“Yes, sir.”

They lay together peacefully for a while. Andy had shifted into his cougar and snuggled up next to Dallas, who gently held the animal. He was amazed by his handsomeness and strength. Andy shifted back when he woke, and Dallas found that he was quite taken with both Andy and his cougar.

Once they were up, Dallas ordered dinner to be delivered after their long leisurely shower together. They enjoyed one another in the warm, sensual spray of Dallas' large shower. Dallas found, to his delight, that his young cougar was quite skilled in the sexual arts. They dressed and went out on Dallas' balcony to have dinner.

The chef was generous and included drinks and desserts to celebrate their bond. "Chef Reid never fails to impress." He said when Andy commented on the elegance of the dinner provided.

"Billy has a cook, but he only serves the main house, no one else," Andy said as he filled his plate. They were both hungry after the workout they had, but it was a delicious workout, and Dallas looked forward to many more as he investigated all of Andy's bedroom skills.

“Why did you return to the pack after you finished your degree? You could have struck out on your own and not be bothered with your brother and his lackeys?”

"My people were hungry, and I had the ability and resources to feed them. I couldn't walk away. I have several greenhouses in operation, and I plan to go back and tend them once relations settle." Every time Andy spoke, Dallas found himself falling a little more in love with the sweet man.

"If that isn't possible, I will help you work something out," Dallas told him and received a quick kiss on the cheek for his efforts.

"You're a good man, Dallas Grant."

"You're a sweet man, Andy Burns."

They were in the process of feeding each other various pieces of fruit when Dallas' phone went off. He knew no one would be calling him unless it was an emergency, so he did not delay in answering.

“Hello.” He said as he stepped off the balcony and back into the living room.

"I apologize for bothering you, but there is a situation at the cougar encampment." Silas began and instantly had Dallas's complete attention. He casually walked further into the room and toward the kitchen in hopes that Andy would not overhear.

“What is it, sir?” He asked hesitantly.

"Ford's done something with Billy. He seems to be in control now. He's taking over and killing anyone who doesn't agree. Two of Billy's men have already died, and the young cougar named Elroy has been beaten near to death and is being held at the main house. It's a mess over there, and I'm afraid your beloved may lose his brother today." Silas told him, and Dallas could feel his stomach tightening at the thought.

They might not be as close as most siblings, but Andy felt a responsibility for his brother, and something like this would devastate him. He didn't want Andy to know what was taking place because he might have some misplaced sense of duty and decide he needed to go back. Andy could not be in the midst of something so volatile and so violent.

"We need to sort this out before Andy finds out," Dallas said very softly so as to not alert his beloved.

"Come to my office, and we'll see what we can do. Jason and your unit are on the scene."

"Okay, I'll be there in five." He said and closed the call while walking back out toward the balcony. Andy was still seated, looking out over the flowerbed gardens, completely engrossed in the scene. Thankfully, he heard nothing of what was being discussed.

"I must talk to Silas regarding my unit. I'll be gone for not more than a couple of hours. You have my number so if you need me do not hesitate to call also make yourself at home. I see you brought some of your things, so why don't you get yourself settled in the main bedroom and just relax until I return." He bent and placed a hard kiss on Andy's eager lips before stepping back. "I won't be long, my love."

"Okay, I'll wait for you." And with that, Dallas left, locking the door behind him. He didn't want to leave his beloved, but it was what he needed to do. The cougars were not going to fuck up his bond or screw with his beloved. He'd kill every damn one of them himself before he allowed them and their antics to get in the way of his future.

Andy stayed on the balcony for a while and then cleaned up the table, putting things away and just generally tidying up before taking a seat in the living room in front of the large window. The view was fantastic, and he could see being very happy in this home with his mate Dallas. His luck was so good he feared to think about it too much in case it jinxed him.

This was the life he'd dreamed of having: a nice home, a loving partner, and peace. God, he needed some peace in his life. He was fast falling in love with the man. He was so much more than a lowly forest cougar, and yet he treated him like an equal and looked at him as special and worthy. He had no qualms about sharing his life with Andy Burns, who was considered the lowest in his pack. Dallas saw his heart and his mind. They were bonded, and they would forever share their lives. Life was close to perfect.

His phone went off, and he answered, seeing that it was Elroy. Perhaps he could give him an update on how the pack was doing and if anyone was aware that he'd left.

"Hello." He said upbeat, but instantly sensed the dire seriousness of the situation when he heard Elroy whimper. "What's the matter? Are you okay?" He stood and walked over to the window and stared out at the world as he listened.

“They’re going to kill me, Andy.” His voice was rough, and he coughed hard. “I think they already killed Billy. They’re crazy.”
