"I'm sorry, Andy," Billy said when he approached. "Ford overheard our conversation and decided it was time to start a war with the vampires." He glanced over to where Ford's body lay and around at the others who decided to follow him and shook his head. "He was never known for his smarts, but I always thought he was loyal." He shook his head again. "Thanks for coming, Andy. Thanks for trying even when you had no chance of winning. That's real loyalty, and I will not forget that."

"I think you might have a real future as a leader of this pack, Billy," Dallas stated, and again, Billy shook his head.

"No, it's time for me to go. I need to figure myself out and find myself a future like Andy has done." He stepped up to Andy and gave him a brief hug. "Goodbye, brother." He said and then shifted and raced off into the woods. Andy stood there silent and staring and then looked up at Dallas.

“That’s probably the wisest thing he’s ever said.”

"Who's going to lead this pack?" Elroy asked. He was seated on a stump with Jason, rendering medical care to his most severe injuries.

"We'll discuss it with Master DuCane." Dallas offered, and then, with his arm around Andy, started back toward Coven territory. "In the meantime, Jason and his unit will maintain order."

"Wow, vampires running a cougar pack, will wonders never cease," Andy remarked with a teasing smile.

“They can’t do any worse than the previous leader class.” Archer shot back with a chuckle. “Could be the beginning of something beautiful.” He added with more laughter.

Archer walked with them until they reached his cottage, and he said his goodbyes. Dallas thanked him for his assistance. “No problem.” He said and headed to where Kevin stood waving to him.

"I'm sorry I caused you such worry. I reacted and didn't think things through." Andy continued to try and explain himself.

"Don't ever do it again, my love. You are my life and my reason, and to lose you would be to lose myself. Don't ever put yourself in danger. Come to me. I will always be there, and I will always help you." Dallas was making himself crystal clear. "I love you, Andy, and know that there is nothing I wouldn't do for you."

"I love you too, Dallas, now and forever."

"Now and forever, I like that." Dallas stopped and pulled Andy into his arms as they stood under one of the fruit trees, and he kissed him deep and longingly with a promise that their life and their love would see them through every obstacle and they would thrive now and forever. The vampire and the cougar were the perfect match.
