"Well…because I'm in love with him."

See, Rove's in a better position here. He never recovered after my first bombshell, so he remains frozen as is. Mouth open, nice and simple. Leo's face, on the other hand, has to restart the Tal Bellamy roller coaster of shock all over again. There's head shaking and bewilderment, culminating nicely in a crescendo of rapid blinking.

"How isthatpossible?" Rove speaks up. "I haven't known you forever like Leo, but I was under the impression you didn't do love. Or relationships. Or repeats."

He's absolutely right. I've never been cut out for relationships or marriage. I don't even like it when a guy spends the night.

"Maybe I'm growing up?" I offer. "Maybe buying a yacht is the first phase of my new life where I settle down, hang up my G-strings, and start wearing more sensible underwear."

"Nowthat partI can definitely get on board with," Leo mutters to Rove, who shakes his head vigorously.

Hey, if you were in your fifties and had a sublime ass without a hint of cellulite, wouldn't you be showing it off, too?

"But seriously," I continue. "I've been doing a lot of reflecting lately. I've reached a point in my life where it's safe to say I've done everything I set out to. I have a successful career. I'm set up financially. I've fuckedallllthe twinks in Berlin. I… I want something else. Something like what you guys have. You know, love and all that shit."

They're both quiet for a while. I get it. It's a big shock.

Leo and I have been friends for over thirty years. He knows me better than anyone, so he especially knows that I have never once even mentioned wanting to be in a relationship…or dropped the L-bomb.

"What's he like?" Leo asks, breaking the silence. "He must be pretty fantastic if he's got you like this."

"He's… He's…" I smile.

"Uh-oh," Rove says, nudging Leo with his elbow. "Looks like Tal's got it bad."

I nod. "Yeah. I think I do. Marsh is nothing like my usual type when it comes to sex."

"Twinks with daddy issues?" Leo and Rove guess at the same time.

Okay, so I have a type. Sue me.

"Exactly."

"How old is he?"

"Forty-one."

"Whoa," they say in unison.

"He's a mountain man. Rugged and masculine. Deep voice. Wears flannel. Chops wood. The whole thing."

My smile grows bigger and bigger as my mind fills with the image of Marsh chopping wood. Seriously, it's like a porn scene come to life.

"So not who I pictured you falling for." Leo sounds shocked.

"That makes two of us, but I've been looking into this love thing. Apparently it's a lot of things but logical isn't one of them."

They nod their heads in agreement.

"Love is a decision, not just a feeling," Leo says, smiling at me as he repeats the words I once uttered to him when he and Rove were figuring their stuff out in the early days of their relationship.

"Yeah. It's that, too."

"And this Marsh guy, ya reckon he's the one?" Rove asks, his Aussie accent coming through strong.

"I don't know." I blow out a breath, glancing between them. "That's why I'm flying over next week to visit him."

"What are you going to do when you get there?" Leo asks.
