‘Neither has Laia.’
Maddi might have thought about how she’d felt a little hurt by that, but she was becoming distracted by her husband’s roving hands.
Ari said, ‘They’re both grown-ups. I’m sure they’re fine and they’ll figure it out.’
Maddi slid over Ari’s body and spread her legs either side of his hips. Every inch of them was touching. Ari’s eyes flashed dark and golden.
She said, ‘You mean like we did?’
Ari smiled wickedly as he smoothed a hand over Maddi’s buttock again, before squeezing hard. She sucked in a breath.
He said, ‘Exactly. Just like we did.’
Maddi grinned. ‘Then they’ll need all the help they can get.’
Ari slapped her lightly, mock-outraged. ‘What are you insinuating?’
Maddi kissed him. ‘Nothing—except for the fact that I’m so glad we did figure it out.’
Ari flipped them easily, so he was on top, between Maddi’s legs. She luxuriated in his solid weight and wrapped her legs around his waist, inviting him into a more intimate embrace. He didn’t need any encouragement.
That day was a good day.
And so was every day after that.
The people of Santanger loved their Queen Maddi as much as the King did. Well, maybe notasmuch. That would have been impossible. Because theirs was a once-in-a-lifetime love and they proved it, by living a long and happy life, in love and in passion, every day.
