All of us ladies grab plates and fill them up, one-by-one. I make a plate for Skadi, giving her a hefty serving of everything because the woman eats like she's training to be in a bodybuilding contest. Yet she never gains any weight. I wish I knew her secrets to keeping a banging body. I'm thinner, but I've noticed I've put on about twenty pounds since I've been here.

The crazy part is, I would have ridiculed myself for it before. I didn't have the best high school experience and my first boyfriend was so obsessed with being controlling that he had me on the scale every other day to make sure I wasn't 'gaining too much' weight.

The reality is he was keeping me on the scale to make sure I didn't gain any weight.

The spread of food on the counters is lavish and overflowing, a feast fit for a king. I carefully fill my plate with a little bit of everything, but skip the dessert options because there just isn't any more room left on either of the plates.

Skadi's plate is just as full, and I'm glad I got a good bit of food for her too. She's been watching these kids, so I'm sure she's ready to dig in and eat.

As I make my way back into the main area to find her, I notice Skadi gently rocking a baby in a car seat with her foot.

"Hey," I say softly, "I made you a plate."

Skadi turns to look at me, her expression surprised yet grateful. "You didn't have to do that. I'm sure Logi would've made me one."

I shrug nonchalantly. "To be fair, Runes told us to make sure you ladies had plates," I motioned toward Magnolia who's still busy feeding a baby. I can't say which baby it is for sure, but I think it's Gwen and Rati's little one.

Skadi chuckles, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Why am I not surprised? The man loves to give out orders. I don't think he knows how to function without being in control."

"I guess that's why he's the president of the club," I laugh.

"You're damn right about that."

I've heard whispers about Skadi being an assassin, but I'm not sure if any of that's true. It could be rumors, and I'd like to think so. Skadi might be a little rough around the edges, but she is an amazingly sweet person. I've spoken to her a few times and she's always been very kind. She tends to stick to herself like Magnolia. I don't know why the two of them are so quiet, but I think it's because they've probably gone through some intense things in life.

"Thank you, Rayna. I appreciate it." Skadi takes the plate from me and I make my way over to the massive dining room table we have in the other room. I pop a squat next to Magnus, who smirks the moment he sees me.

The dining room table is huge, spanning across two normal sized rooms. It had to be custom made. Everyone could easily fit here if they wanted to. There's even room for a few extra people, but I'm sure in the coming years those seats will be filled.

Everyone takes their seats and begins eating. We're only missing Magnolia and Skadi, who are still watching over the little ones. The bigger kids are at the table chowing down on their meals.

The table falls into a comfortable silence as everyone begins to eat, the smell of freshly cooked food filling the air. But it doesn't last long before Charm breaks the silence with her question, "Have we gotten any updates on Bubba's?"

Fenrir lets out a small laugh, "Can't wait until everything's decided, can you?"

"Patience has never been my strong suit, has it?" Charm responds with a playful smirk.

The table erupts in laughter, with Fenrir adding, "No, I haven't known you to be patient."

Runes interjects, "Things are going smoothly. Reed is giving us some final input and construction on the other part of the warehouse should begin soon."

My interest piques, "So it's going to be located in the clubhouse?"

"Yes, in the currently unused portion," Runes confirms. "I'm planning on getting some fencing to separate our parking lot from the bar's. It'll make it more convenient for whoever's working at Bubba's."

The warehouse the club is in is huge. I don't even know how much unused square footage we have here, but there's plenty of room to grow into.

Vail chimes in, "Oh, will some of us be working there?"

Runes nods again, "Yes. Starla," He turns to look at her and I notice she has just taken a massive bite of potato and chorizo casserole. "I was hoping you wouldn't mind managing the bar."

Starla manages to respond with a full mouth, "Seriously?"

"If you're up for it," Runes raises his eyebrows.

Starla chews up her food quickly and swallows. "Yeah, I'd be honored. Thank you!"

I clear my throat, trying to ignore the knot of unfamiliarity in my stomach. "I know I'm a little out of the loop, but who exactly is Reed?"
