“Let me speak my piece, please.” I giggled.

“Since you said please,” Viktor teased, pushing himself up against the headboard and propping himself with pillows. With a sweep of his hand, he motioned me to proceed.

I rolled my eyes but gave him a dramatic half bow. That set the hunger in his eyes glowing. I quickly sat back on my knees, pulling the sheet around my waist.

“Don’t you dare cover up those tits,” Viktor warned.

“I wasn’t planning on it.” I reached up to palm them.

“Briana Marie, if you don’t want me to launch across this bed and consume you, body and soul, I swear to the saints you need to stop that. Now.”

Oh, this was so fun! All the teasing and ribbing of one another, on top of the chemistry we’d always had was now channeled into a productive avenue, not that either of us was fighting the pull of it.We’ll have our whole lives to flirt and banter and make love. And that was what I essentially needed to tell him.

I dropped my hands and said, “There were two things I was going to talk to you about downstairs before we got a little sidetracked working out the kinks of the contract.”

Viktor smiled, all the way to his eyes. My heart skipped as the fondness I felt for this man radiated through me.

“Now that our relationship feels like it’s found solid ground, I wanted to let you know about the rest.” I paused to take a deep breath, then launched ahead, hoping he’d agree. “My career was something I always worried about messing up if I came west with Sophia, which is why I never followed her out here right away, and—”

“I would never ask you to give up your work for me, suits,” Viktor said, leaning forward.

I reached out and squeezed his hand reassuringly. “I won’t. But I’m pleased to announce I have a solution.”

“Alright, I’m listening. Dazzle me!” He leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest.

It was comical enough that I had to suppress a laugh. “If Avery can do work for the underworld, I can too. I’m going to commute between here and Manhattan for a spell and work closely with my mentor. Eventually, I want to come back as a full-fledged Bratva lawyer—keep you all out of jail, secure legitimate contracts to wash your money through—”

“Launder the money?” It was his turn to swallow a laugh.

I waved my hand. “Semantics, ussuri.”

The smile fell. Darkness clouded his gorgeous features.

I pulled him close. “What is it?”

“We’ll have to be careful how we bargain your safety. With things going down and this alliance being destroyed between east and west, I don’t like the thought of you in their territory.”

While I wasn’t worried, I didn’t want to mock Viktor’s concern. “We’ll figure that out. We’ve come this far, Viktor. We’ll come up with a solution.”

He bowed his forehead against mine. “We will.”

“Look, I don’t have all the answers. I’m just a woman on my knees before a prince of the underworld, telling him that, come heaven or hell, I’m going to keep him.”

Viktor sucked in a sharp breath. Hunger blazed deep in his eyes. “Briana, I adore you. I’m never letting you go.”

“Don’t you dare,” I breathed.

Viktor let out a deep roar, springing forward and clasping my shoulders. “Now—on your handsandknees, suits.”

I snuck a glance between his powerful thighs. That beautiful dick swung heavily while his balls hung tight with need. I wet my dry lips. “Yes, sir,” I whispered and scrambled to obey.
