The moment passed, and Michael now asked over the rim of his wine glass, “Henry, how’s your marketing firm?”

The dinner conversation continued around us. It was mind-numbing. Two courses in, I was ready to stab several individuals with the blunt edge of my soup spoon. As tempting as another glass of vodka was, I needed my wits about me.

“Bridgit, are you sure you don’t need anything?” Briana asked. I could tell the conversation was grating on her; she was trying to speak normally.

At the question, their mother’s hawk gaze swiveled to her daughters. I chose that moment to brush the edge of Bri’s panties. She lurched forward, desperately trying to hide her physical reaction.

“No, we’re good,” Brigit replied. “Gavin and I will go through the final details with our director tomorrow. We’ll just need you at the rehearsal dinner at seven.” The bride flashed her sister a smile.

“Oh, okay,” Briana said. There was an odd pitch to her voice that I couldn’t place, and I didn’t think it had anything to do with my hand so close to her pussy.

“Besides, the last project you worked on went up in flames,” Bridgit added with a twitter. “Remember the Christmas charity gala, Gav?”

The family began to hoot, and I vaguely recalled Sophia being incensed about something when she’d come home on her last holiday break. I turned to ask Briana about it, but she was red-faced.

“Well, if you don’t want your only sister as part of the wedding, then we’re going hiking tomorrow,” I announced, taking attention away from the situation. “Anyone else want to join us?”

There were audible gasps around the table. The matriarch managed to swallow her shock and say, “The island isn’t safe away from the resorts.”

“Viktor will keep me safe,” Briana declared, voice a notch higher than normal.

To reward her burst of confidence, I brushed a knuckle against the fabric of her panties. They were...damp.Oh, sweet heavens. Not bothering to disguise my carnal thoughts, I looked down at her and growled, “Damn right I will, suits.”

The next course came out, but my appetite was gone.

“It’s a lovely night for a swim,” I announced, squeezing Briana’s knee and pushing away from the table. We hadn’t been dismissed and dinner wasn’t over, but to hell if I was going to wait for permission. This wasn’t the Bratva, and no one here was in authority over me. I held out a hand to Briana, daring her to take it.Come on, suits. Take a step out of that comfort zone.

“Didn’t you two do that once already?” Michael drooled in the background.

For me, the others fell away. It was only me and this beautiful woman staring at one another. Temptation hung heavy between us. And just as I hoped, she couldn’t resist the challenge. With reckless abandon, Briana laughed, slipping her hand into mine, and I jerked her out of her seat and tucked her into my side.

Turning to the others, I announced, “Lovely to meet everyone. Have a great evening all!” And with that, I rescued the fair maiden, whisking her out of the dining room.

Chapter 7 – Briana

Viktor was wild andreckless; a summer storm. He didn’t care what anyone thought, and he barreled through situations with self-assurance. If it wasn’t for the fine suits, I could see him in the Wild Wild West, guns-a-blazing.
