I bit back a giggle at her girly crush.

Viktor’s stern look made me want to laugh all the harder.

“Could this have anything to do with what Anya was trying to do in your computer room?” I rushed to ask, lest the siblings get into it.

“That’s what my money’s on,” Sophia said, her petite body doing that bouncy thing it did when she got excited.

I dropped my gaze to the contract. “I want to know what Anya was going to do. If it was bad enough, we can claim they’re in breach based on the harm and benefit verbiage.” I tapped the paper for emphasis.

“It’s a risk. Especially if Anya disposed of the USB and claims ignorance,” Viktor said. “Then we’d be the aggressors.”

Sophia pounded her fist into the opposite palm. “I’ll make her squeal.”

Viktor winced. “I don’t torture women or children; you know that Soph.”

There was a plea behind his words. It flashed in those dark blue eyes. He wasn’t asking for it, but I gave him a nod in response.I know, Tor. I know.It was another reminder that he was a mobster with blood on his hands and a kingdom made of illegal gains, but he wasn’t evil.

“We’ll do it,” I clipped out. “Sophia can guide me, and then if they try to call foul, it’s on our heads, not yours.”

“Absolutely not!”

“Kozjól,” Sophia warned. “We can’t stand the thought of the socialite stealing you from Bri.”

I nodded. “Yes. I’ll doanything.” And I would. If I was serious about joining this world, I would burn any bridge required if it meant getting Viktor.

For a moment, I thought he would agree, then with a firm sweep of his hand, Viktor said, “No. You’re not going after Volkov’s daughter.”

Sophia and I exploded in unison, but our protests fell on deaf ears. Viktor rose, shaking his head. “No. It’s too risky.”

The moment he left the room, I exchanged a silent pledge with my roommate. Viktor might be the man I was falling fast and hard for, but his sister was the one I had much in common with. We could speak to one another in only the way best friends could.

The promise in her gaze matched mine:The socialite bitch is going down.

Chapter 34 – Briana

“The guards won’t letus through the gate without Viktor’s permission,” Sophia whispered from where we stood in the kitchen. “And we can’t leave without an escort, even if we fake permission.”
