He paused again, and I knew I’d surprised him once more.
“I was thinking we’d run today,” I said carefully.

A quiet growl escaped him. “You’ll need to go with a few of the other women. Valko and Ivaylo will lock me in my den.”

A soft laugh escaped me. “From what I’ve heard, we’ll do that, too.”
“I need to feed you first.”
“Probably a good idea,” I agreed. “You want to wait a few minutes anyway in case I change my mind, right?” My voice was playful, and his lips curved in a grudging smile.
“Of course.”
“I’m not going to change my mind, but I have no problem with waiting.” After a moment’s pause, I added, “As long as you’re going to let me finish the dishes while you cook for us.”
His chest rumbled, and he pulled out of me. “Only this time, Aurora.”
“I’m not agreeing to that.” I brushed my lips to his lightly, and he captured my mouth. The kiss was hot and needy, but he finally released me as he pulled out. My body ached at the loss of his hardness, but excitement was curled in my chest at what I knew was coming.
We would run together.
I would shift for the first time.
I was going to be a wolf… and Amarok was going to reignite the frenzy when he bit me.
And, when it felt right, I was going to bite him back.
When I did, there would be no more room for uncertainty. He would know that I was his, and he would be mine. And maybe we could figure out a way to heal from the shit in our pasts, together.

“I’ll make us a table tomorrow,”Amarok said, as we sat on the kitchen countertop together and ate the food he’d cooked. “Or tonight, if you want space when we get back from the run.”
