One of his hands lifted to my hair, sliding into the strands before tilting my head to the side.

His lips lowered to my throat, and brushed the skin once, then again, before—

I sucked in a breath at the sudden, sharp pain.

His tongue licked the wound a moment later, and the pain vanished quickly.

My chest rose and fell rapidly as the frenzy swelled around me, his magic immediately melding with my body again.

The gold in his eyes flared brighter as they met mine, and then his hips were easing away from mine.

A moment later, he had me turned around. My breasts and cheek met the tree at the same moment he slammed into me, making me gasp at the sudden fullness stretching me wider.

“Shit,” I choked out, my fingers finding his hair and digging in deeply.

“You belong to me, female,” his voice rumbled in my mind, his hips moving fast and smooth as he drove into me again and again.

Noises escaped me as I neared the edge—until his fingers found my clit.

Then, it was over too fast.

My cries echoed through the Woods as I found my pleasure, losing control around his cock. He roared with me, filling me with his release.

The glow around us faded as we both caught our breath, coming down from the high with our bodies still pressed together.

“Damn,” I sighed, my cheek still pressed tightly to the tree.

Amarok’s lips brushed the claim mark on my shoulder once, and then again, before he slid out of me.

Stickiness leaked down the insides of my thighs as he eased me away from the tree, still holding up most of my weight.

“That was fun.” I turned my eyes a little to meet his, and found Amarok’s lips curving upward.

“The most fun I’ve had in a long, long time.”

“Want to do it again?”

He chuckled, the sound rich and happy. His shoulders were much more at ease than I’d seen them recently.

“First, I just want to run at your side.” He kissed me lightly before murmuring against my lips, “Sound fair?”

“Extremely.” I kissed him again, not ready to let go, before I finally ended it and stepped away from him. “Show me your forest, Amarok.”

He shifted forms, and I did the same. It surprised me, how innate the motion was to me after being in that form only once, but I supposed it was a part of me.

I was a wolf.

And that seemed just as magical to me as anything else in Evare, if not more.

We spentthe rest of the day in the forest, weaving deeper and deeper into the Woods. It was more fun than I could ever remember having, as we chased each other and played in rivers and streams. At lunch time, we shifted back to eat a massive lunch of fresh fruit in a gorgeous, clear pond Amarok led me to.

I had never felt so content in my life.

As nighttime closed in on us, he asked if I wanted to head back to the pack’s land or borrow one of the abandoned dens. I went with the second option, so we ran until he reached the den.

I heaved a sigh as we shifted back to our human forms, and his light, easy laughter floated through the trees. “We’ve been running all day, Aurora. You need to eat and sleep.”

“I’m not that fragile. Sometimes, you take care of me a little too much,” I countered, as I stumbled into his arms.
