“What the hell are you doing in my house, Nadia?” I snarl.

Nadia and I have a history. We dated in the past. She was convenient, and I would hook up with her whenever I would want to let out the steam. But when she started getting clingy, I cut off all ties with her. I was surprised when I saw her earlier at my door. And what irritated the hell out of me was she didn’t leave when I asked her to. Instead, she walked into my house with her annoying pouting expression, insisting we needed to talk. I did tell her there was nothing between us to discuss, but she refused to budge. I wanted to throw her out but an important business call interrupted me. Leaving her in my living room, I went to take the call.

After hanging up the call, I walk back into the living room and halt. Nadia is lying on the couch, with the first two buttons of her dress open, which gives me no choice but to notice her red lacy bra on display. I can’t believe that there was a time I lusted for her. She is nothing but a manipulative bitch, unlike my Alisha, who is genuine and a rare jewel.

“Don’t force me to kick you out. It’s over between us,” I growl, a nerve ticking in my jaw.

She gives me a seductive smile as she licks her lips. “Come on, Ranveer, don’t be a bore. Let’s have some fun for old time’s sake. I missed you.”

“Get one thing in that thick skull of yours. I’m getting married and am no longer interested in meaningless hook-ups. So please see yourself out and knock at some other door.”

“Don’t say that, Sexy, I don’t want anyone but you,” she says, clearly feigning hurt as she rises to her feet and takes a step towards me, gripping me by my shirt.

Placing my hand on hers, I harshly remove her grip from my shirt as I wrap my hands around her wrist and drag her towards the door. I am done with her games. Opening the door, I push her, making her stumble on her feet.

“Don’t ever show me your face again,” I say as I thin my lips, barely able to control my rage. Before she can say anything, I bang the door on her face.

I sit back on the couch and look up at the ceiling. All I can think of is Alisha. Grandpa was right, she is an angel, while all the women I have been in the past were nothing but selfish and greedy. I have never met anyone like her. When I look at her, I see all the best things in life. Her beauty mesmerises me. The way she fights with me when I spend money on her puts a smile on my face. Her kindness and compassion fill me with awe. I love how she is with her family, how warm and giving. After being with her, I have stopped being anxious about my marriage as I can see how wonderful she is and how glorious my days will be with her.

“You look like crap. I thought Nadia was here to entertain you.”

I snap out of my reverie to see Akshay step into the room. He sits opposite me on the couch. I am so irritated at being interrupted. I shouldn’t have ever given him my house code so that this fool couldn’t enter as and when he pleases.

“None of your business,” I snap. “And why are you even here?”

“Is that the way you welcome your friend?” he challenges me.

“Just get lost. I am in no mood to tolerate your nonsense.” I scowl.

“You owe me.”

“Owe you for what?” I drag my hands through my hair.

“Alisha was here, and she happened to meet your fuck buddy,” he points out, his face grim.

My skin pales. I feel a pang of fear creep in deep down to the pit of my stomach.Alisha was here? When?It dawns. Damn that business call! That was the only time Nadia was on her own. “Did she meet Nadia?”

“Yes.” His face glowers with disapproval.

Damn! What did that bitch tell Alisha? I need to go to Alisha and make it right. Before I can ask him further about Nadia and Alisha’s uncalled encounter, his next statement freezes me.

“I don’t know what games you are playing but Alisha definitely deserves better than this farce of a marriage.”

“Think before you speak, or you will make me believe that you are starting to develop feelings for my fiancée.”

His gaze flickers with indignation. “It’s hard not to love her. Only an idiot will not value her worth.”

An entirely alien emotion pushes through me which I have not experienced ever. Jealousy? Rage? I can’t point out what exactly, but it leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

“Do you know what you are saying?” I demand with vengeance, my wrath skyrocketing.

“Yes, I am saying that you are an idiot.”

“Better hold back your words. You are treading on sacred grounds.” I point a furious finger at him.

“Alisha is above all your meaningless flings, and yet you chose to continue your affairs?” he demands, starting to look a bit disgusted.

“I am not fucking around, you moron!” I retort, but it doesn’t convince him.
