Aithan shook his head and stepped on the gas.

“Oh. Is he that author you do a lot of racy work for?”

I laughed again. “Yeah, Dad, Drew Katterman. He’s a really good friend and not nearly as freaky as you think.”

Aithan side-eyed me and I sucked a deep breath, struggling not to crack up.

My dad grunted. “He need any IP advice?”

IP was Dad speak for intellectual property. “Probably.”

“Good. Give him my office number.”

“I will.”

“And get that protection order.”

“I will, Dad.”

“And be careful.”

“I definitely will, Dad.”

“Very good. Okay, I’ll call you later, Punky.”’

“Thanks, Dad. Bye.”

He ended the call, and Aithan cracked up. I started laughing, too. It felt damn good.

When he finally stopped snickering, he said, “To the courthouse downtown?”

I sobered. “You don’t have to do this, you know.”

“I want to, Zel. I’m part of the reason Tristan’s so bent right now.”

I rested my hand on his thigh. “Thanks. It helps having backup.”

“I definitely have your back.” He turned right on Madison. “And your front.”

A slow smile lifted my lips. “If you promise to repeat today’s performance, you’re welcome to both.”

Traffic slowed and he risked a glance at me. “You like it from behind, beautiful?”

My cheeks heated as I remembered my first experience with Drew. “Yeah, actually. That’s one of my favorites.”

“Ever done anal?”

“No.” Now I was seriously blushing. “That’s kinda, I dunno, scary?”

He looked back at traffic and accelerated. “Not if it’s done with the right guy.”

I bit my lip. “You asking to be that right guy?”

I didn’t know how he stayed so focused on his driving.

“When you’re ready, yeah.”

“That one of your favorites?”
