I cupped his jaw and made him look at me. “No, Aithan’s here to participate.”

He shook his head. “I don’t know if—”

I stopped his protests with a slow kiss. “You can. Just turn off your brain. It’s not doing you any favors. Trust me, I know. Mine does that to me, too. That’s why Drew’s here.” My lips drifted to his ear. “I like it when he watches me.”

That was a truth I hadn’t quite accepted about myself until that moment. Drew’s focus turned me on. The pleasure he got from my pleasure only heightened my arousal. The more aroused he got from watching me, the wetter and hotter I became. We were a fucking feedback loop.

“Zel,” Aithan said.

The deep, commanding tone of his voice announced exactly what he wanted of me. And, fuck, I’d give it to him. When he used that tone, when he commanded me, I couldn’t help but obey because submitting to his will made me horny as hell.

“Take off your sweater.”

Heart pounding, I thought,Jesus fucking Christ. With Drew and Aithan in the room, my nerves were tingling, and Tobias had hardly touched me.

I licked my lips, and Tobias’s gaze followed my tongue. “Do you want me to stop or obey Aithan?” I asked him.

“You want me to decide?” He may have been nervous, but his cock told me his excitement was overtaking his anxiety. It pressed against my leggings, and I was pretty sure he was no slouch in the endowment department.

“Yes.” I slid my hands down his neck to his chest. “I’m asking you, Tobias. Should I take off my sweater or should I get off your lap? Either way, I’m gonna cum today. The question is, are you along for the ride?”

“Fuck,” he said, the word an exhalation.

I untied the bow holding my wrap sweater closed, pulled the tie free of its loop, and slipped the sweater off my shoulders to fall to the floor.

I wore a black lace bra and Drew murmured, “That’s a beautiful piece of lingerie, Brick.”

I looked over my shoulder at him. “Thanks, Playboy. You bought it.” He had a hard-on and I remarked, “That’s an impressive stiffy.”

He gave me the most charming grin. “Thanks, babe. You made it.”

Aithan said, “Zel,” and I inhaled sharply, once again responding to the command in his voice. Shivers skittered beneath my skin. “Put Tobias’s hands on you. Show him what you want him to do to you.”

Tobias clenched my hips, his fingers neither gentle nor caressing. I touched them, meaning to lift them to my bra straps, but he didn’t look aroused anymore. Oh, his dick was definitely turned on, buthewas freaked out, mouth pinched and head slowly twisting as if his neck ached.

Shit. I’d misread him big-time. Holding his hands, I kissed his forehead, then said, “Aith? Drew? I want you to leave us.”

Drew sucked a breath behind me and Aithan’s expression morphed from aroused to confused.

“You want us to go?” Drew asked, quietly.

I held Tobias’s gaze. “Yes. I want to talk with Tobias privately.”

Drew sniffed. “Okay, babe.” He slapped Aithan on the shoulder as he left the office. “C’mon, brother, let’s do the dishes.”

Tobias glanced at Aithan, his expression unreadable, but Aith must’ve understood it because he nodded. “Whatever you want, beautiful,” he said, offered his fist to Tobias, who bumped it with his own, then closed the office door behind him.

“Man, I’m sorry, girl,” he started, but I covered his mouth with my fingers.

“No. You don’t apologize to me. I do to you. I shouldn’t’ve pushed, because I know what you’ve been through.I’msorry.”

He sighed. “The thing is, Zel, I dig you, likereallydig you. You’re mad-sexy and fun and so damned loving. But I don’t trust myself. I lost Juju and my smarts died with her, at least when it comes to women. I trust you. I trust Aithan. Hell, I trust Drew to be one hundred percent upfront with everyone on everything. But I don’t trust myself to make the right decisions, especially about you.

“And, honestly, I don’t know if I’ll ever have the courage to be as open with you as they are. So I think, for now, I need to be a dad, not a boyfriend or a husband or even a friend with benefits. I know that’s not what you want to hear, but it’s what I gotta do for Amara.”

I slipped from his lap to the loveseat and sat facing him. Taking his hands, I said, “I respect you too much to pull any bullshit on you, Tobias. You putting your daughter first isn’t a threat to me or anyone else. Your devotion to Mari, your willingness to go to bat and do anything to protect her, that’s what I find so incredibly attractive about you. Never apologize to me for putting your daughter first. Never apologize toanyonefor doing that.

“And please don’t compare yourself to Drew and Aithan. The relationship I have with them is unique. So is the one I have with you, whatever it ends up being. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the last few months, it’s not to compare myself to anyone else. That only results in misery.”
