I pulled a face. “I hate clothes shopping.”

Candace nodded and said, “Girl, same.”

Drew shrugged. “You used to hate sex, too. Until Aithan and I entered your life.”

“It wasn’t her life you guys entered,” Tobias muttered and Aithan spit water all over his shirt.

“Damn!” Drew crowed and Candace cackled. Aithan wiped water from his chin and laughed.

“I don’t know if I should feel attacked or flattered,” I said, laughing. “You have no idea how hard it is to buy off the rack when you’re built like an Amazon.”

Candace frowned. “I never thought about that. I figured everything was made for tall chicks since the models are all giants.”

“Skinny giants,” I corrected. “Everything’s based on a size eight fit model. If you’re over a size twelve, forget finding decent clothes unless you like muumuus or spend a million bucks.”

“Fuck it,” Drew said, “have clothes custom made.” He reached down and swiped Lulu into his arms. Purring, she climbed onto his shoulder and smashed her face against his jaw.

“Ha! Like I said, a million bucks.” I rinsed the dishes. “And I wouldn’t even know where to start.”

Frank wandered into the kitchen and stuck his face in the bowl of kibble I always left out for the cats.

Aithan started unloading the dishwasher. “Zel, you’re Drew Katterman’s girlfriend.” He wiped a damp plate. “Might be time to up your style game a little.”

Drew said, “You can’t wear leggings and baggy sweaters everywhere.”

“I don’t,” I protested, though the guys weren’t too far off. I pretty much lived in them unless I was going out. And, honestly, I’d worn them to the grocery store and pharmacy more often than I’d ever admit.

Candace laughed. “Zelda, you look guilty as charged.”

Tobias’s phone chimed, interrupting our conversation. “Time to split,” he said to Candace. “Gotta get Mari from Dianne and John.”

“Yep.” She pushed her chair back from the table. “Thanks for letting us hang out.”

I wiped my hands on a dishtowel. “You’re always welcome. You know that.”

“Yeah, we do,” Tobias said. He kissed my cheek and exchanged hugs with Aithan. He offered his hand to Drew, who stood and shook it. “Thanks for being a dick.”

Drew nodded. “My specialty. Get your daughter away from your ex-twat for good.”

“That’s a goal I can get behind,” Tobias replied.

We walked them down to the front door and said our goodbyes then returned to the kitchen to finish the dishes.

“Call me a chauvinist,” Drew remarked, “but I like your curves, Brick. I’d like to see more of them.”

“Me too,” Aithan remarked as he rinsed flatware.

“And that,” Drew gestured to the leggings and old button-down shirt I wore, “ain’t cuttin’ it.” He grabbed my hips and pulled me close. “You’re beautiful and sexy and I really wish you’d stop hiding.”

Aithan closed the dishwasher. “I wish you saw yourself through our eyes, beautiful.” He tucked my hair behind my right ear and kissed my temple. “Then you’d know you have nothing to hide.”

I twisted an orange striped dishtowel around my hands. “You guys are probably right.”

“About?” Aithan asked.

“Clothes. But where do I start?”

“Personal shopper,” Drew said. “It’s easier than looking for clothes yourself. They must exist in Seattle.”
