“You are the one responsible for her kidnapping,” Wyatt said, shocking all of us.

“Yes. I have done a lot of things that I regret and that was one of them. Vlad was never a good man, and I knew what would happen to a young woman left in his care.” Katerina said and I gripped the table, focusing on my breathing at the mention of his name.

“I don’t care who you are, lady. Once this is over, I will find you and I will hold you responsible for his crimes. I will carve his mark into your skin as you beg me for mercy.” Wyatt snarled and Katerina laughed.

“You are welcome to come and exact your vengeance one day. I would not expect any less from a man such as you, Wyatt.” She said, shocking us all.

“You have been keeping tabs on us,” William whispered and she sighed.

“I keep tabs on everyone who might decide they want me to pay for my crimes one day. I wouldn’t be in the position I am if I didn’t. For what it is worth, you have our support in this until you want to make us your enemy again.” She said.

“I’ll send you the information I have.” She added before the phone went dead.

We sat in silence, the energy in the room dark as I took a long, shuddering breath.

“How are you okay with that woman now?” I asked Mikhail and he looked at Rosslyn for a moment before he smiled gently.

“I made my peace with the past. I saw a side to Katerina that changed things and I didn’t want to hold onto that forever.” He looked at me as if seeing my mind and where it was going. If Mikhail could forgive her after everything she did to him, could I forgive her too?

“Okay. We have what we need for now. Let me do some work and then we can catch up and you can meet your niece.” Mikhail said to me, and I smiled, pushing away from the table.

“That sounds good. I’m just going to get some air.” I said before I walked outside, running from the tension.

WeallwatchedAnyaleave and before William or Beau could chase her down, I got to the door first.

“It’s my turn,” I said, staring them down. William backed away first with a smile, but Beau’s jaw ticked before he nodded once.

If anyone was going to find it difficult to share, it was him.

“Ahhh remember those early days when it was hard for us to share?” Gabriel said as he sat back in his seat, arm around Rosslyn.

“Don’t tease. We had it pretty easy considering you were already so close.” Rosslyn said and I saw William sit down, his voice echoing through the house as I opened the front door.

“So how does it work, anyway?” He asked and I hurried out the door. I didn’t want to hear that conversation right now, but I was curious.

I searched for Anya, finding her near the stables. I desperately needed to hold her, touch her, and know she was alright. I hadn’t had a moment alone with her since seeing her covered in blood in Beau’s arms and I was struggling.

She saw me coming, exhaustion in her eyes as she looked at me.

“Are you okay, Darlin?” I asked and she shook her head.

I wrapped my arms around her as she pressed her face into my chest. I inhaled softly, enjoying her scent that now had softer scents of Beau and William.

Not that I minded. She had come home with William last night and stayed with him in his room. I had been on the couch these past few days, refusing to sleep too far from her.

It was a weird feeling, being in love. Because that was what this was. I may not have known her long but I did love her.

“Wyatt. Are you sure you want to deal with all of this? It isn’t your fight to fight you know. You could leave like the others.” She mumbled into my chest and I kissed her head, holding her tightly.

“Ain’t nowhere else I’d rather be, Darlin. I made my mind up the minute I saw you naked. I’d rather go to hell than leave your side.” I said and she snorted a laugh into my chest.

“How romantic.” She said and I pulled back, forcing her to look at me.

“I may not be much of a romantic, but I decided that night that I wasn’t going to go anywhere. I don’t give my heart to anyone, Darlin. I decided long ago that I wasn’t going to ever fall in love but you changed that.” I said and she raised an eyebrow at me.
