Shoving those dark thoughts aside, I take off toward the main entrance and tap my hip to the panel that will read my card and allows me entry into the holiest of places on campus.

The girls’ dorms.

I take the stairs three at a time in my quest to find out what my sister is doing.

I’m at her door in only a few seconds. My fingers wrap around the handle and I twist.

Nothing happens.

I should be pleased that she’s following orders and locking herself in, but it also could mean that she’s hiding something.

“Millie,” I boom, pounding my fists on the door. “I know you’re in there. Open the door.”

“Go away,” she shouts back, confirming my suspicions. “I don’t want to talk to you.”

Irritation rolls through me.

“I know what you did. And I’m not talking to you until you apologise to Raine.”

I scoff before taking matters into my own hands and tap my master keycard to the pad once more. I twist the handle and shove the door open.

But it doesn’t fucking open.

“Millie,” I growl, throwing my weight into the door, but whatever she’s wedged behind it doesn’t shift even an inch.

“I’m not messing around, Theo,” she warns. “You’re being an unreasonable prick and Raine doesn’t deserve it.”

“Fucking pain in my arse,” I mutter.

“And make sure it’s a really good heartfelt apology or it doesn’t count.”

A defeated sigh falls from my lips.“Fine,” I bark, throwing my hands up in defeat and stepping away from her door.

Glancing down the hallway, my eyes land on one of the very final doors on this floor.

Sucking in a deep calming breath, I take off in that direction. Although it’s yet to be seen if I’ll do anything like offer up an apology. Right now, it’s more likely that I’ll throttle her for the way she’s managed to worm her way into my head without permission.

I linger outside her door, trying to get my shit together. But my need to make Millie happy finally wins out and I lift my hand to knock. She’s always been my weakness, and she damn well knows it.

Just like before, there’s no response.

“Raine?” I shout. Not that I think hearing my voice will make her answer the door.

I knock again.

“Just let me the fuck in so I can say what I need to say.” I shake my head at myself. There’s no way she’s letting me inside.

Once again, I repeat my actions from down the hallway, unlocking her door.

After all, this card isn’t just for the entrance and Millie’s door, it’s for every single one in the building.

This time when I unlock the door and attempt to throw it open, it actually does, revealing a very bare room inside.Without a second thought, I step into her room, studying her space.

Her bed is made tidily, there are no clothes on the floor or posters on the walls. If I didn’t know better, I’d think no one was actually living in here.

Where are all her things? Photographs of her friends and family, trinkets from home? Jewellery and make-up? All the things that litter every other room in this dorm.

“Where are you?” I mutter, walking around as if the room is going to provide me with answers.
