I move around them to refill my glass with water. “Aren’t you a little overdressed for bed?” My brow arches.

“We were at the party,” the other says, earning her a hard look from the blonde.

“The party…” I play dumb.

“It doesn’t matter.”

“Right.”

“It was invite only.”

“Cait!”

“What? It’s not like she has anyone to tell.” The girl with the loose lips shrugs.

“Trust me, I don’t care about any party.”

“Everybody cares about an Heirs’ party.”

I barely refrain from rolling my eyes.

“Like you wouldn’t jump at the chance to be with Theo or Elliot.”

“We’re not all desperate whores,” I sneer, leaving them both speechless.

Without another word, I walk out of there with my head held high and return to my room.

I can’t stand it. The way they assume they know me. The way they judge me without even knowing me.

It doesn’t matter though. The whole interaction was a means to an end.

My alibi is tight.

At least, I hope it is.

Because something tells me, when the sun rises, and the Heirs see my handiwork, all hell will break loose.

THEO

“Ithink I’m dying,” Reese complains from his spot on the sofa where he’s resting his head in Liv’s lap. Although he doesn’t seem to be getting the sympathy from her he wants.

“I told you not to do those shots. What the hell did you expect?” she barks.

It would be easy to believe she’s the righteous one listening to them. But one look at her face and it’s clear she’s suffering almost as much.

Oak and even Little Miss Prim don’t look much better. And while Elliot is yet to appear, I’m pretty confident he’ll be a wreck too.

He was the soberest out of all of us. But then something changed.

Abi left early and her disappearance flipped a switch in our leader. One I’m sure he’s regretting right now.

With my head spinning and my stomach turning over, I make everyone coffee, hoping it fucking helps. The machine grinds away while I rest my palms on the counter and hang my head.

Just like last night, disappointment and irritation drips through my veins, poisoning me from the inside out.

My day with Dad was exactly as I predicted. He was a smarmy, pretentious cock and I had to laugh at his jokes and blow smoke up his arse as his equally dick-ish colleagues did the same.
