“Raine,” I prompt.

With a pained sigh, she huffs. “I don’t have anything to wear, okay?” She looks down at my body. “You look like…” She gestures to me. “And I’m…” She points at herself.

“Beautiful? Sexy? Incredible?”

“Teddy,” she sighs again.

“I’m going to find you something,” I state, turning my back on her and marching toward her wardrobe.

I pull the doors open with a flourish of energy and enthusiasm but the second the inside is revealed, my chin drops in shock.

“See,” she says from behind me.

I don’t need to look back to know she’s got her arms crossed under her tits, her hip popped and her standard scowl playing on her lips.

“I don’t have anything to wear out for whatever fancy-pants meal you have planned.I’m not one of you, Theo. I don’t have Gucci dresses, Louboutin heels, and Chanel bags in my wardrobe that I’ll only wear once so I don’t get spotted in the same outfit twice.

“I have one pair of jeans, an old hoodie, some t-shirts with holes in them, and some shorts that show off most of my arse because I cut them wrong. I’m not sure any of those are suitable for where you had planned to take me tonight.I’m not that girl.”

I take a second to let her words settle before I spin around.

The hunger that was burning in her eyes has turned to fury and her chest is heaving from a whole new reason too.

“Where do you think I’m taking you?”

“Well, based on your designer cargo pants and shirt, I’m guessing it’s a place I don’t belong.”

“That’s bullshit, and you know it, Raine.”

“No, Theo. It’s not. Our worlds, they’re completely different. You’re Ralph Lauren, and I’m charity shop. This… this isn’t—” Her words are cut off when she collides with the wall.“Theo,” she gasps.

“No,” I argue, glaring down at her as my hand settles around her throat. Her pulse thunders beneath my fingertips, her body trembling with rage.“I don’t give a fuck about what you do or do not have, sunshine. I’m not standing here right now because you have a wardrobe full of designer labels. I don’t give a shit if everything you own is old and has holes in it.

“I’m here for you. For your smart mouth, your quick wit, and your sinful body. You could be walking around wearing a bin bag and I wouldn’t blink.I want you, Raine. Nothing else. Just you.”

Her eyes fill with tears and her bottom lip trembles in a show of vulnerability I’m not used to from her.

She hates it. I know she does.

But she also can’t help it.

I lean closer and she can’t stop herself from searching out my lips. But this time, I don’t give in to the chemistry crackling between us. Instead, I give her a chaste kiss before taking a huge step back.

“What are you doing?” she asks when I drag my shirt from my body and shove my trousers down my legs.

Ignoring her, I march back to her wardrobe in just my boxers and socks before pulling out her shorts, a t-shirt, and a zip-up hoodie.

“Put this on,” I demand, holding it out in front of her.

“Theo?” she sighs, not moving an inch.

“Be a good girl, sunshine, and I might just reward you for it later.”

She thinks about it for a moment before huffing a ‘fine’ and snatching the clothes from my outstretched hand.

I watch as she pulls her clothes on, my eyes locked on her ass as she tugs her shirt over her head.

“I don’t know why you’re so harsh on the shorts. They look pretty fucking awesome to me,” I confess.
