He’s on his best behaviour tonight. And will continue to be. But that doesn’t mean he won’t ensure we’ll be fully aware of any misdemeanours after the event.
Thankfully, the starters and mains come and go without too much fuss or drama.Both Millie and I mostly poke at our meals. It’s not unusual for her, but it is for me.
“Is everything okay, Theo?” Maria asks me, noticing my barely touched plate.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spot movement on the other side of the room. My heart lurches when I spot my girl slipping out through a set of double doors with Abi hot on her tail.
“I’m not feeling great. Probably the excitement,” I lie. “Excuse me,” I say before pushing my chair out and walking away.
I spot Abi slipping into the ladies’ bathroom at the other end of the hallway, and after a quick glance around to see if anyone is watching, I take off after them.
I catch the door just before it closes.
“I hate this,” Raine complains.
“Trust me, it’s not my idea of a fun night either. But he needs you. He needs his boys,” Abi reasons, proving once again that she’s more aware of what’s happening around her than we often give her credit for.
“I know. I know. I just… something bad is going to happen, Abs. I can’t stand it. I just wish I could talk to him, be close to him. I—”
Stepping out of the entrance to the bathroom, I silently announce my presence.
“Ask and you shall receive,” Abi jokes.
“Theo,” Raine gasps. “What are you—” Her words are cut off as I wrap my hands around her waist and force her backward until she collides with the tiled wall.
The second we stop, I dip down and claim her lips in a wet and filthy kiss that will probably result in me being the one wearing her crimson lipstick. But fuck it. There are worse problems to have.
“Oh my God,” Abi gasps, her eyes fixed on us. “I… uh… I’ll leave you to it.”
I don’t hear her go, I’m too lost in the taste of my girl’s kiss and the warmth of her curves under my hands.“Fuck, Raine,” I groan, ripping my lips from hers and kissing down her neck.
But while she might have kissed me just as passionately and desperately as I did her, she’s not so willing now, her body tenses beneath my touch.
“What’s wrong, sunshine?”
Stupid question really.
It’s fucking obvious.
“Why am I sitting on the other side of the room to you?” She half chastises, half moans when I suck on the skin beneath her ear.
“I did it for you, Raine,” I tell her honestly. “You’re better off with our friends.”
“I came to be with you, Theo. I came becauseyouneeded me.”
“I do.”
“On the other side of the room?” she asks suspiciously.
“Trust me.” I breathe, hitching up the bottom of her dress and rubbing my fingers over the lace of her knickers. “Fuck, Raine. You’re soaked.”
“We’re going to get caught,” she says.
“So?” Resting my brow against hers, I stare down into her eyes. “Since when do you care about getting into a little trouble?”
“We’re in the golf club. I’m sure getting fingered in the bathroom is frowned upon by all the stuck-up—” She abruptly swallows her words and averts her gaze.
“Go on,” I encourage, an amused lilt to my voice as I continue teasing her.
