“Fucking hell,” I mutter.

“I’m going to make coffee,” Liv announces. “Some help, please,” she says firmly, ensuring the others follow her to the kitchen to give me some space.

Millie doesn’t go though. She sits her butt on the coffee table in front of me and waits patiently with her arms wrapped around herself.

“Court case?” I whisper, flicking to an official looking letter.

“What is— Vaughn Ronson, oh fuck,” I gasp, my hands trembling as reality dawns on what I’m reading.

“I told you it was him,” Abi states.

“When the fuck did you say that?” I demand as Elliot comes rushing back over.

“Don’t fucking talk to her like that,” he seethes, looking ready to jump to Abi’s defense.

“Y-yesterday,” she stutters, curling in on herself. “I was sure it was him. She looked terrified, Theo.”

“See, I told you,” Millie says with a huff. “She hasn’t done anything wrong.”

“Okay, so… what does all this mean?” My mind is working overtime as I try to piece together everything we’ve learned.

“It means that prick you’ve been buying gear off is a bigger scumbag than meets the eyes. When did he show up exactly?”

“Umm…” I think, trying to cast my mind back.

“Before Raine started here, or after?”

“After,” I confess, remembering the first time I met him. “Definitely after. Motherfucker,” I seethe. “I’ll kill him. If he’s laid a finger on her, I’ll fucking kill him.”

“Who is he? What has he done?” Millie asks, but thankfully, neither Elliot nor Abi answer her.

I know she’s not a naïve child, but she doesn’t need to know all this right now.

It’s not important.

“We need to find her,” I state.

“I agree, but where do we even start?” Elliot asks.

“Where did they meet? Would he take her back there?”

“Assuming he has her,” Abi offers. “What if she’s running from him?”

“Jesus Christ.”

“My dad could track her phone,” Oak suggests, clearly listening to everything despite being on the other side of the room.

“No, he can’t,” Millie says quietly. “It’s in her room. She left it.”

“Fuck. FUCK,” I bark, shoving my fingers into my hair and pulling until it hurts.

“We’ll find her, man,” Elliot assures me. “We’ll find her.”
