“Whoa, looks like someone has a hot date tonight,” Reese shouts loudly when I march through the Chapel. Successfully turning all eyes on me, making me wince.

I don’t want to be going out tonight.

I want to kick back on the sofa and hang out with my boys. It’s not very often we get the chance now. There’s always a girl or two hanging around.

The girls are great. Honestly, I couldn’t think of anyone more suited to either of them. But that doesn’t stop me from missing my idea of what this year was meant to be like.

The four of us against the world.

Ruling this school from the top with no thoughts about the future or anything serious.

I needed that.

I still fucking need that.

But with them planning lives with their girls and my father breathing down my neck about being prepared for uni, it seems that my dreams about what our lives were going to be this year were just that.

Dreams.

We might have the key to the Chapel but everything else is different.

Hell, I’m different.

I scoff, not wanting to respond to his stupid comment with an actual response.

“Does Abi know?” Oak asks.

The teasing over her might have lessened since her father passed, but it’s still there lingering just beneath the surface.

I might be the master of keeping everything locked down from most people, but my boys… they see it.

They know I want her.

They also know that I’m not allowing myself to have her.

Sure, they all have some kind of understanding as to why, but no one really knows the full truth.

“Fuck off,” I grunt.

“Have you seen her today?” Reese inquires.

Of course I’ve fucking seen her today.

“Uh… briefly between classes earlier, yeah,” I lie. “Why?”

“No reason. I just saw her talking to Ethan Smith, is all,” Reese explains, watching me closely.

“If you’re trying to say something, do us all a favour and just spit it out, yeah,” I snarl.

I don’t react to his words, but on the inside, I’m fucking feral.

They don’t need to know that though.

“I just thought you’d have something to say about her hanging out with another lad.”
