CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX

Drake

“Fuck me,” Easton growled as I stood at his front door, his stare lapping the length of me as though I were naked. “Get over here.”

He opened his arms. I fell into them, and he pressed his lips against the top of my head while he wrapped his body around mine.

It didn’t matter how often I came over—even though it had become nightly, he still greeted me as though it were the first time he was touching me.

As though he couldn’t get enough.

There was something about the tone of his voice, the way he instantly reached for me, how his lips found some part of me and stayed there, breathing me in, that I couldn’t get enough of.

I wasn’t just wanted.

Desired.

I was loved.

And it was this spot, this safe embrace, that I never wanted to leave.

A place where I completely lost myself.

Where time no longer mattered.

Where I felt weightless, his arm bearing every pound while I leaned my body onto his. I tucked my face into his chest, feeling the hardness of his pecs until he lifted my chin, aiming my gaze at him.

“Kiss me.”

So I did.

It wasn’t just my breath that Easton took with his mouth.

It was my trust.

Because I knew, because it had been proven, that he wouldn’t let me fall unless it was toward him, and then his arms would be there to catch me.

Like they had been several weeks ago, when he’d flown to San Francisco to meet with Brennon, doing everything in his power to show my innocence.

Like they did the following morning, when I returned to work, my desire to be at Hooked outweighing how upset the entire Dating Place scandal had made me.

Like they were now after the longest day at work.

“Fuck, I missed you,” he said when our mouths parted.

“You just saw me a few hours ago.”

Since next week was phase one of the international rollout, I’d stayed later than I intended.

“Seems like much more than just a few hours.” He brushed his nose against mine. “Besides, I didn’t get to do this in the office.” He kissed me again. Slower this time, as though he were sipping me like a drink, savoring. “Or this.” His hand lowered to my ass, squeezing my cheek.

Even though our relationship was out in the open, we were extremely professional when we were there. A topic we had discussed immediately upon my return to work. Physical boundaries had been set, and I wouldn’t break them for a quickie.

Some things were worth losing, but my team and their respect weren’t.

“You better come inside before I eat you in this doorway.” He turned, giving me enough space to slide into his condo.

I’d already smelled dinner the moment he opened the door, but the closer I got to the kitchen, the stronger the aroma became.
