It was also the perfect cover for my screams.

No one would hear me out here. They were free to do as they pleased.

Not that it would stop them. Nothing ever seemed to.

When we got to the clearing, I was suddenly shoved forward.

Stumbling on the uneven ground, I crashed to my knees.

Pain shot up my thighs a beat before the rest of my body plummeted toward the ground.

I braced for impact, already trying to come up with a story to explain to Kristie why I’ve got a bruised face when I was suddenly stopped.

Pain exploded at the back of my skull as I was dragged up by my hair and thrown down on my ass.

I scrambled back in a pathetic attempt to get away, but it was pointless.

The man who caught me loomed in front of me, but he was no longer alone.

Two more masked figures closed in behind him.

I knew who they were. The masks were pointless. Just another part of their sick and twisted games.

Holding the man’s eyes, dark eyes that I’d recognized anywhere, I attempted to look strong. Like I was able to endure anything they forced on me.

“I was promised a treat today, and it looks like your old man is going to deliver,” he taunted, making my stomach somersault with fear.

Reaching up, he ripped his mask from his face, allowing me to see the evil snarl he was wearing beneath.

The two men behind did the same, no longer feeling the need to hide their identity as they moved closer.

I continued trying to back away, but the second Victor reached out and snagged my ankles, I’m hauled exactly where he wanted me.

My dirty shirt hitched up around my waist, exposing my white cotton panties.

“Cute,” he taunted before pulling a switchblade from his pocket and flicking it open. “But totally fucking pointless for what we have in mind, princess.”

My eyes fly open and in a heartbeat, I discover that the warmth around my ankles isn’t just a visceral part of my dream.

It’s reality.

The bright strip lights are illuminated above me, making my eyes water, and dark figures stand around me as I move.

“NO,” I scream, attempting to kick out and remove the two hands that are locked tight around my limbs, but it’s pointless.

I’ve been locked up in this cage for too long. My head might tell my body to fight, but my movements are sluggish and pathetic.

Everything hurts. Just having my legs stretched out as I’m dragged across the floor is agony.

A muffled cry hits my ears from the other side of the room and I throw my head back to find Mav.

His eyes are wide as he watches in horror as I’m dragged farther away from him. My heart drops when I find the gag between his lips, stopping him from crying out, from demanding they stop.

He might no longer be hanging from the ceiling, but he’s still bound in place with chains around his wrists and ankles, forcing him to lie on his front in an attempt to protect his back.

The second I’m free of the cage, large hands wrap around my waist, and I’m hauled from the floor.

I scream, kick, and punch but none of my hits make an impact. If anything, they just amuse the men holding me.
