My heart jumps into my throat as one of Victor’s guys fires at me, missing the side of my head by about an inch.

Glancing toward a door on the other side of the room, I find the man who’s eluded us all this time with his gun raised. At me.

“Go,” I demand before JD and Mav move around the room to restrain him while Devin, Ezra, Ellis, and our masked ally continue to successfully clear the room one corrupt cunt at a time.
“Ow, you motherfucker,” Ezra roars when a bullet grazes his shoulder. “You made me fucking bleed, you cunt,” he roars before pulling a blade from his boot and plunging it into the guy’s chest until blood is spilling from his lips.
“He’s dead, Ez,” Ellis points out before dragging him away.
In only minutes, we’re the only ones standing.

His eyes lock on mine, a silent understanding passing between us.
“Who is—” Devin starts, but the second he reaches up and pulls the mask off, he falls silent. “Well fuck me sideways,” he breathes.
Ignoring them, I march forward and into the room where JD and Mav have easily overpowered Victor and have him in a chair with his hands bound behind his back. Both of them have guns trained on him, ready to defy my orders should it be required.
Our eyes lock and he watches as I prowl closer, my brothers following close behind.
Tilting my head to the side, I study him, making sure he can’t miss the pity oozing from my eyes.
His eyes are hard and angry as if he’s actually shocked it came to this.
“What’s wrong, Dad? Did you really think you’d beat us?” I taunt. “You trained us, remember? We’re your biggest achievement yet and your greatest mistake.”
His eyes flick among us, but he noticeably lingers on one.
“Oh, did you think he was with you?” I mock. “You really are a clueless motherfucker, aren’t you?”
Hearing my silent command, all of us raise our guns.
“This is for them,” I say before we all fire, unloading bullets into his toxic body.

“Oh my God,” I gasp, jumping to my feet and racing to the door.
In seconds, I have her in my arms, and she holds me just as tightly as I do her.
“Surprise,” she whispers with a laugh, the heat of her breath warms all the way down to my soul.
“I thought you were some dangerous gangster coming to kill us,” I chastise her when I finally release her and take a step back. “KK, you look…” A smile pulls at my lips. “Amazing.”
She shrugs, refusing to accept my words.
“JD came down to see me,” she explains, making my heart swell. “He said that you’d need me tonight. He gave me everything I could need and didn’t lock my door when he left.
