“Get your ass out of the kitchen,” Ezra orders. “We’re going to Hallie’s.”

“It’s cool, I can—” Reid tries to argue.

“Nope. Not happening.” He taps his cell screen before lowering it to the table. “I’ve already told her we’re coming.”

“Ez—”

“Seriously, when was the last time you four properly left the house?” Ezra asks, quirking a brow. “You’re free now. This whole fucking world is your lobster?—”

“Oyster,” Kristie quietly corrects.

“Yeah, that… Get out there and fucking show them all that Reid Harris isn’t a hider.”

Reid's eyes blaze with heat as Ezra successfully lights a fire under his ass.

“Plus, Hallie has been nagging me for fucking ages. She wants to see you.” He gives his older brother puppy dog eyes.

Reid is about to agree when Ellis throws in another reason why we all need to go. “Primrose might be there. Ez, put up on your socials that we’re going. Maybe we can get some answers.”

“I’m in,” I say, keeping my eyes on JD, who doesn’t look quite so excited about the prospect.

Whoever this Primrose is, JD needs the truth, so he can hopefully put it behind him.

He might be convinced there isn’t a woman out there walking around with a bump of his making, but until he hears—or sees—for himself, I don’t think he’s going to truly believe it.

My stomach knots at the thought of someone else carrying his baby. I don’t like it, but ultimately, it’s our reality. If any of them want a baby of their own, then I’m not going to be the one carrying it.

That thought threatens to dampen my mood, but then Daisy hops up on my lap and asks if she can wear her new sparkly dress for breakfast and I shove all my concerns aside in favor of her.

“Of course you can. I bet Kristie would love to see it,” I say, shooting a look at my sister.

“Is it a princess dress?” she asks, looking as excited as Daisy.

My heart melts for both of them.

“Come on, Kwistie,” Daisy says, accepting her into her life without a second thought and all but dragging my sister out of the room.

She catches my eye just before she leaves the room and she mouths, ‘I love her.’

“Hey, Dove,” JD says, stepping up behind me and wrapping his arms around my shoulders. “You have fun with Reid?” he asks before peppering kisses up my neck.

“You know it. Surprised you weren’t outside the door listening,” I tease.

“How do you know I wasn’t? Have you met Hallie before?” he asks a little excitedly.

“Once or twice. She’s sweet.”

“She’ll love you,” he promises. “You think Reid melts for you, you should see how he is for her.”

“Is that why he doesn’t want to go? He’s got a rep to keep now after all.”

JD chuckles. “Maybe.”

Aubrey disappears to make herself presentable before we all begin tidying up and getting ready to go.

Butterflies flutter wildly in my stomach as I stand at the bottom of the stairs and stare at the massive, black double doors before me.

“Missed you,” Mav says, appearing behind me as voices and laughter float around the house. It feels more like a home now than ever.
