Packing up my stuff and turning off the desk light, I walk over to Lucian, whose head is still buried in his phone. Too busy to realize I’m ready to go, I kick his foot with my combat boot.?His eyes shoot up in surprise as he looks me over.?
Whistling, he says, “Damn, girl, who are you trying to impress?”?
I whip my backpack around, smacking him with it. “Shut up!”?
“Just saying, I don't think I’ve ever seen you this done up before. Looks good on you.”?
“Well, thank you. And no, it's not for anyone else…just me.”?
Taking one last glance in the mirror, I adjust the leather skirt. My tights have a rip running down the side, but I think it adds to the overall look. The mesh long-sleeved shirt I have on doesn't hide much, especially with my bright purple bralette underneath. Couple that with my new hair and dramatic cat eyeliner, I’m like a whole new person.??
“This doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that Ben is going to be at Frankie’s tonight?”?
“Fuck no. I felt like dressing up…so I did.”?
“Mmhmm, whatever you say. Grab a coat and let's go. It’s supposed to be cold out later.”?
“Thanks, Dad,” I joke as I nudge him with my shoulder.?

I'mon my second beer by the time the party is in full swing. Colton, Ben, and I are hanging out on the back patio. The two of them share a joint while I nurse my bottle, observing the party around us.??
“You want a hit?” Colton asks, joint pinched between his fingers.??
“Nah, I’m good for now.”??
“Emmy, I have to say, you look fucking gorgeous tonight,” Ben says as he releases the smoke from his lungs.?
“Aw, thanks. I like the purple.” Twirling one of my long strands of hair around my finger, reveling in the compliment.?
“I’m serious. By far, the hottest chick here.”?
