Ella yawned and buried her face into his chest and sleepily asked, “And are you content, Mr. Dragon-man?”

Adam blinked and stared down at her, but she was already lightly snoring. Had she actually figured it out? Or was this just her unconscious mind putting the pieces together? He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. “Yes.” He stroked her hair and whispered back, “I think I am content now.”

CHAPTER7

Tendrils of sunlightdanced along the water as Ella opened her eyes and stared out at the sea. Her sleep had been peaceful, no screaming in her head, no pain, just pure blissful sleep. Glancing over, she saw Adam sitting up, watching her with a smile on his face.

“Good morning, how’d you sleep?” He asked with a voice still gravely from sleep.

That voice rattled her from head to toe with a shiver. “Great, and you?”

“Perfect.”

She motioned between them and laughed. “This is weird, isn’t it?”

He cocked his brow. “Which part? Our awkward morning talk or that fact that on our first date we ended up sleeping platonically on my balcony under the stars?”

Ella covered her mouth to laugh. “I guess both. I don’t usually opt for a sleepover on a…um… first date.” She paused and gnawed her bottom lip before looking up at him through her lashes. “Is that what it was? A first date?”

He nodded. “Yeah, it was. A first that hopefully leads to more and more. But no matter what, you aren’t going back to the hotel. You’re staying here, this is your place now for as long as you are here.”

She blinked. “But this is your home.”

“I’ve got many homes, trust me, it’s not putting me out at all.”

Her smile faded into a frown. “Does that mean you’re leaving?”

Adam chuckled. “Only if you want me to.”

Ella shook her head. “No, I don’t want you to leave.”

“Thank god.” Adam hopped to his feet and held out a hand for her. “Would you like some breakfast, m’lady?”

“That sounds great, but first, can I take a shower?”

He leaned over and gently kissed her cheek. “Of course. The master suite is all yours. There are towels on the counter for you. I’ll get breakfast going.”

She loved the sound of that. Is this what relationships were like? She’d never had a real solid one to judge by. Most of hers only lasted a couple of weeks. She’d pick up on all of their flaws within minutes of meeting other men, try to push herself through the relationship, but something inside her would always push her to leave. They weren’t right for her, but she hadn’t gotten that feeling with Adam. In fact, she had the exact opposite feeling with him.

Making her way to the shower, she stripped down and proceeded to take the longest, most luxurious shower of her life, in the biggest shower she’d ever seen. The entire thing was marble, with benches built into the walls, multiple shower heads coming in from all directions. An array of shampoos, soaps, and conditioners lined the shelves and each one was unopened. Clearly the work of Melody.

Ella cleaned up, sat back on one of the stone benches, letting all the streams of water wash away any lingering pains from last night. In her relaxation, she imagined what it would be like to share this giant space with someone, with Adam. Her body shivered. She couldn’t think about it, trying to push the image of his strong hands caressing her body, his lips exploring her. Squeezing her legs together, she cursed at herself until the needful feeling passed, and she focused on the sound of the water to calm down.

As soon ashe heard the shower start up, Adam placed a call to Grace and began making breakfast. It didn’t take longer than a minute for her to show up. He hadn’t even gotten the coffee started, and she was already standing there in her business suit, red rimmed glasses perching low on her nose, and a clipboard in hand.

Standing in the middle of the kitchen, she placed the clipboard down and took a seat at the bar. “What’s happening with our patient today? Is she fully healed from yesterday?”

He nodded as he poured water into the coffee pot. “Yeah, it slowly faded overnight, she can move around now.”

“That’s good.” She narrowed her eyes at him. “What else is going on?”

He stopped and turned to face her. “She can see us.”

“Pardon?”

“She can see my scars I hide with my glamour spell, she can see Melody’s horns and tail. Like you said, she saw you glow the very first time she saw you.”
