This baby always did the trick.

I turned it on and just lay there for a moment, looking up at the ceiling.

Try not to think about Grant, I told myself. But that was wishful thinking. His face and voice took up every pocket of my mind, and after what had happened in his office, his touch filled in the rest.

I softly brushed the vibrator over my skin, over my breasts, and down my belly until I reached the apex of my thighs.

I imagined what could have happened in Grant’s office. I imagined his kiss trailing down my neck as he roughly pulled my tank top down, bra and all, and freed my breasts for him to touch, to squeeze, to roughly kiss. His tongue sliding across my skin before he pulled away and kissed me fully on the mouth, his hands tangling in my hair as he pulled me closer to him to deepen the kiss.

I let out my breath as the tiny, rhythmic vibrations sizzled over my skin.

Grant would have pulled my shorts down, pushing my underwear to the side before circling a thumb over my clit.

I would have been so wet for him, and in reality, I had been, and the same heat was still burning inside of me as I let my vibrator do the work I’d wanted Grant to do.

His voice echoed through my mind as I started to arch my back, his name was on the tip of my tongue as my whole body contracted on the edge of release.

I pictured him pushing me down onto his desk on my belly while he pulled my shorts and underwear down, whispering in my ear as he drove his fingers into me from behind.

Then, he would’ve taken off his belt, I would have heard it fall to the ground before he pressed his cock into me and claimed me as his.

The image alone sent me over the edge into pure, white-hot oblivion. I tossed the vibrator the side of the bed, panting as a wave of pleasure rushed over me, through me, making my toes curl into the sheets.

“You weren’t supposed to think of him,” I whispered to myself, trying to catch my breath.

The next two days passed in a blur. There was so much activity on the ranch between the construction and the usual chores that needed to be done. I found it easy to avoid Grant, I barely saw him, in fact, and when I did…

I just pictured the made-up sexcapade I’d invented to help myself get off.

I couldn’t stop blushing in front of him, and I could tell he’d taken notice, but too many people needed him and we hadn’t, thankfully, had another chance to talk about anything other than the business at hand since that day in his office.

It was a good thing, because despite my professionalism and desire to keep whatever was going on between us reined in, I wasn’t sure I could trust myself around him if we had another moment alone together.

But then Thursday morning rolled around, and like clockwork Day was up, out of bed, and out the door before I had a chance to even get breakfast on the table. It was another scorcher of a day as I reached into the cabinet for the bag of ground coffee but found it empty.

“Damn,” I whispered, tossing the empty bag in the trash before looking around the stifling little kitchen.

I needed to go to the grocery store. I needed to do a lot of things around the bunkhouse, too, but I’d been too busy. Foregoing my usual cup of coffee, I gathered the laundry and threw it into the washing machine, then made quick work of tidying up.

It wasn’t even nine by the time I dressed for the day and headed out, going over the plan for the day in my head.

I needed to meet with the contractor, check in on the progress of the pond before my meeting with the EPA official. Then I was supposed to go up to the edge of the property with the contractor to decide on the best course of action to reroute the creek through the lower pasture and into the pond when it was built.

I sighed as I gathered up my things and left the bunkhouse through the back door. So much to do, so little time.

At least that would keep me from falling into Grant’s path, alone, and making a goddamn fool of myself again.

But then I heard Day’s voice lifted in an excited hello.

“Hey,” I said with a little laugh as Charmaine turned around, smiling at me from under a wide-brimmed sunhat. “What are you doing here?”

“Your beefy rancher invited me over to see the place.” She smiled, waggling her eyebrows. “Mr. Hallston is quite the man, if you know what I mean.”

I blushed despite myself, knowing exactly what she was talking about.

“Day is going to give me a tour, isn’t that right?”
