“Damn, I might have to try that,” Angel said, barely loud enough for Rae to hear over the thumping music.

Once they were in line for a drink, Rae pulled Angel close enough to whisper-yell in her ear, “Remember, follow my lead and don’t say anything about Devon or give any indication you know any details about the parties.”

“Got it.”

They both ordered a blackberry-ginger mocktail and started making rounds until they found a group of people Rae knew well. One was a fellow professional Domme like her.

“Hey, gorgeous, I didn’t know you were coming out tonight,” Bessie, a short redheaded Domme, said as she side-hugged Rae.

“It was sort of last minute. We were needing to get out and have some fun.”

“I haven’t seen you out in a while,” another Domme said. She was a tall brunette, and Rae had to dig deep to remember her name: Sadie.

Rae smiled. “We’ve just been busy. You know how it goes.”

“That’s good that you’re still getting business after ... you know,” Sadie said with a smirk, and Rae remembered why she never cared for her.

“That whole thing was bullshit,” Bessie said and took a sip of her drink, which glowed green under the shifting lights. “I mean, I hope they find your client and everything, but to try to put that on you? So typical. Those assholes are always trying to push around anyone in the sex work industry. Well, fuck them.”

“Hear! Hear!” Angel said, raising her glass high before remembering she was supposed to be submissive, something impossible for herfriend. A few submissives standing around stared at her, so Rae decided to give her an out.

“She’s not mine.” Rae indicated Angel, who widened her eyes at her. “I suggested she collar-up to avoid unwanted attention.”

“Good idea,” said a petite blonde with the biggest breasts Rae had ever seen on a person that size. Rae didn’t know her, but she gave off come-hither vibes. “I know I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands off you.”

Angel and the woman exchanged a look that could scorch the sun, and Rae had a feeling she’d be leaving the party alone.

They spent the next few minutes chatting and catching up with the group. When Bessie excused herself to get another drink, Rae joined her. She didn’t think Angel would mind since she appeared enthralled with the blonde.

“These drinks are good, but they would be a hell of a lot better with a little Tito’s,” Bessie said, playfully nudging Rae’s side with her elbow as they waited in line.

“For real.” Rae glanced around them before asking, “So, I have an odd question for you, Bess.”

“What’s that?”

“Well, I had a client recently tell me about play parties he knows of where things get pretty ... wild. Like no-holds-barred, off-the-radar kind of shit where professional Dommes can make a lot of money. Have you heard of anything like that?”

Bessie’s face dropped. “That’s so strange that you ask. I had a client invite me to something like that last week. Said I could do anything I wanted there. No rules or safe words. And it was at a mansion or something.”

“Did he say when the party was going to be?”

“Yeah. It was last Wednesday.”

“Did you go to it?” Rae said.

“I couldn’t that night, but they’re having another one next Wednesday at nine.”

Rae did a happy dance in her head.

“I don’t think I’m going to it, though,” Bessie said, pulling cash from her corseted top.

“Why’s that?” Rae got her own money ready as they were next in line.

Bessie turned to her. “Something about it doesn’t feel right, you know?”

“Yeah. Seems like it’d be a big liability for everyone involved to have no safe words.”

“A lot of money to be had from what my client said, but he could’ve been lying. He’s always trying to proposition me. You know the type.”
