When his hands gripped her hips, she laughed and shook her head.

“No. I’m not moving faster this time. I want this to last.”

He sat up, kissed her, and moved his hand between them, touching her clitoris. She inhaled as the feeling washed over her.

“Brett,” she whispered against his lips.

“I’m sorry,” he said before he put her on her back and pounded into her.

She screamed his name when she came. Brett pressed his lips to hers and groaned when he joined her. He raised his head, and she gazed into his eyes.

“You just couldn’t let me do it, could you?”

Brett chuckled. “I said I was sorry.”

JoJo laughed. “No, you weren’t.”

“Well, that’s true. Next time.”

“Whatever.”

He laughed, rolled onto his back, pulled her close, and held her tight.

“We’re going to be fine.”

“Yes. Yes, we are.”

JoJo smiled as she snuggled against him. She knew he was right. They’d be fine. Rich would never bother them again. In her heart, she knew that.

A few minutes later, he got out of bed, strode to the bathroom, and closed the door. He returned in less than a minute, crawled back into the bed, and wrapped his arms around her, making her sigh. She heard his breathing deepen and knew he’d fallen asleep. She closed her eyes and drifted off with a smile on her face.

Epilogue

When Christmas morning arrived, Brett stood in front of the window in the living room, staring out at the falling snow. It was a perfect day for the holiday. He jerked when JoJo’s arms wrapped around him.

“It’s about time you got up.” He kissed her forehead and put his arm around her.

“I finally got a full night’s sleep. I love a white Christmas.”

“I’m sure it happens more than not here.”

“We get our share for sure. The tree is so pretty.”

“Nick has gorgeous trees. I know where we’ll be going every year.”

“Can we open presents?”

“Of course. It looks like Santa left you a few things.”

“A few? He must have let someone else’s gifts here because they can’t all be mine in that pile.”

“They all have your name on them. I checked.”

JoJo giggled. “Let me get my coffee, and then we can open them.”

“I’ll be right here.” He sat on the sofa, sipped his coffee, and watched the festivities on TV.

JoJo returned, set her cup on the coffee table, and grinned as she sat on the floor.
