He dressed in sweatpants and a T-shirt, then padded barefoot to the kitchen. He was hungry. It was close to three, and been a long time since breakfast.

“Looks like you’re not going out tonight,” he murmured as he made a sandwich.

With a deep sigh, he carried it to the living room, sat on the recliner end of the sectional sofa, turned on the TV, and ate.

JoJo laughed as her father opened his presents. He’d gotten a lot of gag gifts for turning sixty.

“Is this all the shit you got me?” Joseph Flynn asked as he gave his family dirty looks.

“We’re teasing you with those, hon. We have better ones for you,” Joanna Flynn told him.

“Where the hell are they? You had your fun, now bring me my damn presents.”

JoJo glanced at her brother, Liam, to see him laughing.

“Do you think the man could ever say a sentence without a swear word?”

“It wouldn’t be Dad if that happened.” Liam grinned at her.

“That’s true.”

“So, sis, how’s life treating you?”

“Good. You?”

“The same. Have you heard from Rich?”

“No, and I hope I never do. You must be over the bitch. Oh, I’m sorry, I mean, Crystal.”

“Sure, you did, but yeah, I am. Good luck to the next sucker.”

“That’s how I think about the next woman Rich reels in. Someone should warn her.”

Liam put his arm around her. “I never did like him, and when I found out about him stalking you, I went ballistic.”

“Dad didn’t like him either. You know how I felt about Crystal.”

“Yeah, you never hid that.”

“You and Monica seem happy.”

“I think we are. She’s great.”

“I like her. I went on a date last night. His name is Brett Watkins. He moved here from Helena.” She shrugged. “I like him.”

“Good, but he’d better not hurt you.”

“I’ll tell him my big brother will kick his ass if he does.”

“I won’t hesitate to do that.”

“You might change your mind if you saw him.”

Liam’s eyebrows shot up. “Big guy?”

“I think you’re the same height, and build but his arms are a little bigger.”
