“What?”

He inclined his head at the sunscreen covering her hands.

“You don’t need that much.” He smiled.

Good Lord. She wanted him, but it was too soon. He would think she was easy, and she wasn’t. At least, she never thought she was, but this man made her want to strip off those trunks and check out the rest. She gave a nervous laugh.

“I squeezed it too hard,” she said, wanting to crawl into a hole. That did not come out right, or her mind was in the gutter. “Both.”

“Both, what?”

“Nothing. Talking to myself. I guess I didn’t realize it was full.” She shrugged.

“I see.” He sat on the chaise lounge chair next to her.

“You work out, don’t you?”

“Yes, ma’am. I have to since I sit at the drawing table a lot. Do you?”

“I run.”

“That’s why your legs are so toned.”

She glanced at him. “Is that right?”

Brett chuckled. “I will not lie. I’m a leg man, and yours are great.”

“Thank you.”

“What time do you work tomorrow?”

“I work from seven until four every day I’m scheduled. I’m the only one out front unless it’s super busy. Katherine quit, and now we’re shorthanded. Sloane said she’d hire someone.”

“As busy as that place is, you need help.”

JoJo nodded. She tried to keep her eyes off his body, but it wasn’t easy. She was happy to see dark hair covering his legs and arms. She wasn’t into manscaping. Many women liked it, but she wasn’t one of them.

“What are you thinking about?” He touched her hand.

“That I’m glad you don’t manscape.”

Brett laughed, making her chuckle.

“Hell, darlin’, I hate shaving my face. I can’t imagine keeping up with the rest of it.”

“I get that. I hate shaving, but it’s a necessary evil.”

“Does the tattoo symbolize something?”

JoJo laughed. “Only that I lost a bet.”

Brett grinned. “I’m glad you did. I like it.”

“I do too.”

“So, why a rose?”

“I told you I love roses.”
