“I don’t know. Unless, he thinks, for some stupid ass reason, that if I can’t provide for my daughter since my bulls are gone, he’d get custody.”

Peyton burst out laughing. “He willneverget custody of her. That is one thing you don’t have to worry about.”

Dylan shook her head. “I hope not. I’d run away with her first.”

“And we’d help you.” Marlowe shook her head. “No. I don’t think that’s his reason for lying, but he is lying to you for some reason.”

“Tell us about the agent.” Peyton smiled.

“Let me get Zoey to bed first.” Dylan stood.

“I’m not sleepy, Mama.”

“I think you are. You can barely keep your eyes open. Come on.” She picked up Zoey after she kissed Marlowe and Peyton goodnight.

“We’ll see you later, Zoey. Sleep tight,” Peyton said.

“Goodnight, sweetheart,” Marlowe added.

“I’ll be right back.”

After getting her daughter settled in bed, Dylan walked back to the living room, sat on the sofa, and looked at Marlowe, then Peyton.

“What do you want to know about Agent Reeves?” Dylan frowned.

“What’s he look like?”

“He’s tall, probably close to six four, or five. His eyes are very dark brown, and his hair is too. His body is in terrific shape from what I could see. He wore a coat and his vest, but his jeans were sure filled out right. He’s very handsome.” She shook her head. “I remember thinking that when I was able to see him, but when he looked into my eyes, I thought handsome was such an understatement. He’s gorgeous.”

“Is he married?”

“No. He said he was divorced. I asked him then kicked myself for doing so.”

“Go for it, then.”

“Nope. He might be a livestock agent, but he is a cowboy.”

“How do you know?”

Dylan shrugged. “Well-worn cowboy boots, hat, and that cowboy swagger. Oh, and not to mention, he can ride a horse like he’s glued to the saddle. He is definitely a cowboy.”

“But he could be a good one,” Marlowe said with a grin. “I found one.”

“Yes, you did, but that doesn’t mean I will. I hate to admit it, but Agent Alex Reeves could change my mind, but he doesn’t seem interested in me.”

“But you’re interested in him, aren’t you?” Peyton tilted her head.

“I prefer blond men.”

“You didn’t answer the question.”

“Okay, yes. I am interested, but he’s on a case.Mycase, and I doubt he’d mix business with pleasure. Unless he just wants to have sex. I could do that.” Dylan grinned.

“Now I’m curious about what he looks like.” Peyton frowned.

“Why? You sure don’t want him if he’s a cowboy,” Dylan said.

Peyton shrugged. “For sex.”
